Lumin Translation

Psalm 88

Yahweh, God of my salvation, day and night I have cried out before you.

Let my prayer come before you; bend your ear to my cry.

For my soul has had its fill of afflictions, and my life has reached Sheol.

I am considered among those descending into the pit. I have become like a man without strength.

Released among the dead, like the slain lying in the grave whom you remember no more, they are cut off from your hand.

You have set me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the depths.

Your wrath weighs heavily on me, and with all your breakers you have humbled me. Selah.

You have distanced my acquaintances from me; you have made me abhorrent to them. I am confined and cannot get out.

My eyes have languished from my affliction; every day I have called to you, Yahweh—I have spread out my hands to you.

Will you perform wonders for the dead? Will the shades arise to praise you? Selah.

Will your favor be declared in the grave, your faithfulness in Destruction?

Are your wonders known in the darkness, and your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

But to you, Yahweh, I have cried out, and in the morning my prayer comes before you.

Why, Yahweh, do you reject my soul? Why do you hide your face from me?

I am afflicted and dying from my youth; I have borne your terrors distraught.

Your burning fury has passed over me; your terrors have cut me off.

They surround me like water all day long; they close in on me together.

You have distanced my beloved and companion from me, my acquaintances into darkness.
