Psalm 48

1Yahweh is great and greatly praised in the city of our God, his holy mountain.

2Beautiful in height, the joy of the whole earth is Mount Zion, on the borders of the north, the city of the great King.

3God is known in her palaces as a refuge.

4For look, the kings assembled; they passed by together.

5They saw and so marveled; they were dismayed and hastened away.

6Trembling seized them there, pain like a woman in labor.

7With an east wind you shatter the ships of Tarshish.

8As we have heard, so we have seen in the city of Yahweh of hosts, in the city of our God; God will establish it forever. Selah.

9We have pondered your mercy, God, in the midst of your temple.

10Your fame, God, matches your praise to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is full of righteousness.

11Let Mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah exult because of your judgments.

12Go around Zion and surround her; count her towers.

13Set your hearts on her ramparts; consider her palaces, that you may recount it to the generation to come.

14For this God is our God eternally and forever. He will guide us to death.
