Psalm 97

1Yahweh reigns; let the earth rejoice, let the many islands be glad.

2Clouds and darkness surround him; righteousness and justice establish his throne.

3A fire goes before him and sets his foes ablaze all around.

4His lightnings illumine the world; the earth sees and trembles.

5The mountains melt like wax before Yahweh, before the Lord of all the earth.

6The heavens make his righteousness known, and all the peoples see his glory.

7Let all who serve carved images, who boast in idols, be put to shame; bow down to him, all you gods.

8Zion heard and was glad, and Judah's daughters rejoiced for the sake of your judgments, Yahweh.

9For you, Yahweh, are Most High above all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods.

10Those who love Yahweh, hate evil. He guards the lives of his faithful ones; he rescues them from the hand of the wicked.

11Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.

12Rejoice in Yahweh, you righteous; give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
