Lumin Translation
Psalm 59
Save me from my enemies, my God; defend me from those attacking me.
Deliver me from evildoers and save me from men of bloodshed.
For see, they lie in wait for my soul; mighty ones gather against me—not for my rebellion, nor for my sin, Yahweh.
Without fault they hasten and prepare against me; awake to meet me, and see.
You, Yahweh God of Hosts, God of Israel, awake to punish all the nations; show no mercy to any treacherous evildoers. Selah.
They return at evening, howling like dogs as they circle the city.
See, they spew from their mouths, swords from their lips: "Who hears?"
But you, Yahweh, laugh at them; you mock all the nations.
My strength, I watch for you, for God is my refuge.
My God will go before me with his mercy and my mercy. God will show me my enemies.
Do not destroy them, lest my people forget; scatter them by your strength, and bring them down, Lord our shield.
For the sin of their mouths and the words of their lips, let them be caught in their pride, for the curses and lies they declare.
Destroy them in wrath; destroy them, that they be no more. Let them know that God rules in Jacob to the ends of the earth. Selah.
Let them return in the evening, howling like dogs as they prowl the city.
They roam restlessly in search of food; if they are not satisfied, they spend the night.
But I will sing of your strength; I will shout for joy over your mercy in the morning, for you have been my high tower, a refuge in the day of my distress.
To you, my strength, I will sing praises, for God is my stronghold, the God of my kindness.
