Lumin Translation

Psalm 38

Yahweh, do not rebuke me in your indignation, nor discipline me in your burning anger.

For your arrows have sunk into me, and your hand bears down upon me.

There is no wholeness in my flesh because of your wrath; there is no well-being in my bones because of my sin.

For my iniquities have overtaken my head; like a heavy burden, they weigh too much upon me.

My wounds stink and fester because of my folly.

I am stooped and bowed down exceedingly; all day long I go mourning.

For my loins are filled with loathsomeness, and there is no soundness in my flesh.

I am faint and crushed exceedingly; I have roared from the roaring of my heart.

Lord, all my desire stands before you, and my groaning is not concealed from you.

My heart palpitates, my strength has forsaken me, and the light of my eyes—even they—are no longer with me.

My lovers and companions stand at a distance from my wound; my near ones stand far away.

Those seeking my life lay snares, and those seeking my harm speak calamities and mutter deceits all day long.

But I am like a deaf man who does not hear and like a mute who does not open his mouth.

I was like a man who does not hear, with no reproofs in his mouth.

For in you, Yahweh, I hope; you will answer, my Lord my God.

For I said, lest they rejoice over me when my foot slips—they magnify themselves against me.

For I am ready to stumble, and my grief is always before me.

For I confess my iniquity; I grieve over my sin.

But my enemies are vigorous and strong, and those who hate me falsely have multiplied.

Those who repay good with evil oppose me, because I pursue good.

Do not forsake me, Yahweh my God; do not be far from me.

Hasten to my help, Lord my salvation.
