Psalm 107

Praise Yahweh, for he is good, for his kindness endures forever.

Let the redeemed of Yahweh declare, whom he redeemed from the hand of the adversary.

and gathered them from the lands, from east and west, north and south.

They strayed in the wilderness along a desolate path; they found no city of habitation.

Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them.

They cried out to Yahweh in their anguish, and he delivered them from their distresses.

And he led them along a straight path so they could go to a city to dwell in.

Let them thank Yahweh for his steadfast love, for his wondrous deeds to the sons of men.

For he satisfies the thirsting soul and fills the hungry soul with good.

Those sitting in darkness and the shadow of death, bound in affliction and iron.

because they rebelled against God's words and despised the Most High's counsel.

He humbled their hearts with toil; they stumbled, and no helper stood by.

They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, and he delivered them from their troubles.

He led them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bonds.

Let them praise Yahweh for his steadfast love and his wondrous deeds to the children of men.

For he broke the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron.

Fools are afflicted because of their rebellious way and because of their iniquities.

Their appetite abhors all food, and they approach the gates of death.

They cried out to Yahweh in their adversity; he saves them from their distresses.

He sends his word and heals them, and delivers them from their pits.

Let them praise Yahweh for his steadfast love and his wondrous deeds to the sons of man.

Let them sacrifice thank offerings and declare his deeds with joyful song.

Those who go down to the sea in ships, carrying out business in vast waters.

These see the works of Yahweh and his wonders in the depths.

He spoke and raised the storm wind, and it lifted its waves.

They rise to the heavens; they descend to the depths. Their soul melts in distress.

They reel and stagger like a drunkard, and all their wisdom is swallowed up.

They cried out to Yahweh in their trouble, and he brought them out from their distresses.

He stills the storm to quietness, and their waves subside.

They were glad because it grew calm, so he guided them to their desired haven.

Let them praise Yahweh for his favor and his marvelous deeds to the sons of men.

Let them extol him in the people's assembly, and praise him in the council of the elders.

He makes rivers a desert, water sources thirsty ground.

A land of fruit into a land of salt, because of the evil of those who inhabit it.

He makes a desert a pool of water, and dry land water outlets.

There he settled the hungry, and they established a city for dwelling.

They sowed fields, planted vineyards, and produced fruits of increase.

He blessed them, and they increased exceedingly; he did not diminish their livestock.

They dwindled and bowed down through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.

He pours contempt upon nobles and makes them wander in a void without a path.

He raised the needy from affliction and set their families like a flock.

The upright will see and rejoice, and all iniquity shuts her mouth.

Whoever is wise will heed these things and consider Yahweh's kindnesses.
