Bible answers
What does the Bible say about gratitude?
Gratitude in Scripture is not a mood you manufacture. It is a practice of noticing that God has already acted, even when the day is unfinished. Thanksgiving belongs in ordinary meals, in worship, and in the middle of unanswered prayer.
Key verses
- 1 Thessalonians 5:18Give thanks in all circumstances; this is God’s will in Christ Jesus for you.
- Psalm 100:4Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise.
- Colossians 3:15Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, and be thankful.
- Psalm 107:1Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his steadfast love endures forever.
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.The Bible says give thanks in all circumstances, not for all circumstances. Gratitude does not deny grief or injustice. It refuses to let those things erase every gift already in the room. A thankful heart is often the first crack in anxiety’s certainty that nothing good remains.
