Lumin Translation

Psalm 79

God, nations have entered your inheritance; they have defiled your holy temple; they have laid Jerusalem in heaps.

They have given the carcasses of your servants as food for the birds of the sky, the flesh of your faithful ones to the beasts of the earth.

They poured out their blood like water all around Jerusalem, and there was no one to bury them.

We have become a disgrace to our neighbors, mockery and ridicule to those around us.

How long, Yahweh? Will you stay angry forever? Will your jealousy blaze like fire?

Pour out your wrath on the nations that have not known you, and on the kingdoms that have not called on your name.

For they have devoured Jacob and desolated his homeland.

Do not remember against us the iniquities of our ancestors; let your compassions hasten to meet us, for we have been brought exceedingly low.

God of our salvation, help us for the sake of the glory of your name; deliver us and forgive our sins for your name's sake.

Why should the nations say, "Where is their God?" Let it be known among the nations before our eyes, vengeance for the blood of your servants poured out.

Let the prisoner's groaning come before you; according to the greatness of your arm, spare those appointed to death.

Repay our neighbors sevenfold into their bosoms their reproach, which they have reproached you with, Lord.

We, your people and sheep of your pasture, will thank you forever and recount your praise from generation to generation.
