Psalm 116

1I love Yahweh because he hears my voice, my supplications.

2Because he has bowed his ear to me, I will call to him all my days.

3The ropes of death surrounded me, Sheol's straits overtook me; I encountered distress and grief.

4I called on the name of Yahweh: “Yahweh, please deliver my soul.”

5Yahweh is gracious and righteous; our God is merciful.

6Yahweh guards the simple; I was brought low, and he delivered me.

7Return to your rest, my soul, for Yahweh has rewarded you well.

8For you have rescued my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling.

9I will walk before Yahweh in the lands of the living.

10I believed, so I spoke: "I am greatly afflicted."

11I said in my alarm, "All humans are liars."

12What will I repay Yahweh for all his benefits toward me?

13I will lift the cup of salvations and call on the name of Yahweh.

14I will fulfill my vows to Yahweh now before all his people.

15Precious in Yahweh's eyes is the death of his faithful ones.

16I beseech you, Yahweh—for I am your servant; I am your servant, the son of your maidservant; you have freed me from my bonds.

17I will sacrifice to you a thanksgiving offering and call on the name of Yahweh.

18I will fulfill my vows to Yahweh now before all his people.

19In the courts of Yahweh's house, in your midst, Jerusalem. Praise Yah!
