Psalm 71

1In you, Yahweh, I have trusted; never let me be ashamed forever.

2In your righteousness, deliver me and rescue me. Bend your ear to me, and save me.

3Be a sheltering rock for me to come to continually; you have commanded to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.

4My God, rescue me from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unrighteous and cruel one.

5For you are my hope, Lord Yahweh, my confidence from my youth.

6I have relied on you from the womb, from my mother's belly. You are he who drew me out. My praise is continually in you.

7I have been like a wonder to many, but you are my refuge, my strength.

8My mouth will be filled with your praise and your majesty all day long.

9Do not cast me away in the time of old age; do not abandon me when my strength ceases.

10For my enemies speak against me, and those who watch for my life conspire together.

11saying, "God has forsaken him; pursue and seize him, for there is no one to rescue him."

12God, do not be far from me, my God; hurry to my help, hurry.

13Let the adversaries of my soul be ashamed and consumed; let those seeking my harm be covered with reproach and dishonor.

14But I will hope continually, and add to all your praise.

15My mouth will recount your righteousness all day, your salvation, for I do not know their numbers.

16I will come in the mighty deeds of Lord Yahweh; I will declare your righteousness, yours alone.

17God, from my youth you have taught me, and until now I have declared your wonders.

18Even to old age and gray hair, God, do not forsake me until I proclaim your power to the generation, your might to all who come.

19Your righteousness reaches to the heights, God—you who have done great things. God, who is like you?

20You who have shown us and me many adversities and evils will revive us and me again, and bring me up again from the depths of the earth.

21Increase my greatness, and surround me with comfort.

22I will also praise you with the psaltery for your faithfulness, my God; with the harp I will sing praises to you, Holy One of Israel.

23My lips will rejoice aloud because I will sing praise to you, and my soul, which you have redeemed.

24My tongue also will speak your righteousness all day, for they are ashamed, for they are put to shame, those seeking my calamity.
