Genesis 45

1Joseph could no longer restrain himself before all those standing by him, so he called, "Send every man out from me!" No one else stood with him as he revealed himself to his brothers.

2He wept aloud, and the Egyptians heard, and Pharaoh's household heard.

3Joseph said to his brothers, "I am Joseph. Does my father still live?" His brothers could not answer him, for they were terrified before him.

4Joseph said to his brothers, "Come close to me, please." They came close, and he said, "I am Joseph, your brother whom you sold me into Egypt."

5So now, do not grieve or be angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.

6For these two years the famine has been throughout the land, and yet five years remain in which there will be no plowing or harvest.

7God sent me before you to spare a remnant for you in the land and to keep you alive by a great deliverance.

8Now it was not you who sent me here, but God, who has appointed me a father to Pharaoh, lord over all his house, and ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.

9Hurry and go up to my father, and tell him, “Thus says your son Joseph: God has made me lord over all Egypt. Come down to me; do not delay.”

10You will live in the land of Goshen and be near me—you, your sons, your grandsons, your flocks, your cattle, and everything you have.

11I will sustain you there, for five more years of famine remain, lest you, your household, and all you possess come to destitution.

12Look, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that my mouth speaks to you.

13Tell my father of all my glory in Egypt and of all that you have seen; hurry and bring my father down here.

14He fell on his brother Benjamin's neck and wept, and Benjamin wept on his neck.

15He kissed all his brothers and wept over them; after that his brothers spoke with him.

16The news was heard in Pharaoh's house that Joseph's brothers had come, and it pleased Pharaoh and his servants.

17Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Tell your brothers, ‘Do this: load your animals, go, and get to the land of Canaan.’”

18Bring your father and your households and come to me, and I will give you the good of Egypt's land, and you shall eat the fat of the land.

19You have been commanded: do this, take wagons from the land of Egypt for your children and your wives, bring your father, and come.

20Let not your eyes pity your possessions, for the good of all the land of Egypt is yours.

21The sons of Israel did so, and Joseph gave them wagons according to Pharaoh's command, along with provisions for the journey.

22He gave changes of clothes to each of them, and to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver and five changes of clothes.

23To his father he sent in this manner: ten donkeys carrying the best from Egypt, and ten female donkeys carrying grain, bread, and supplies for his father on the journey.

24He dismissed his brothers, and they went. He said to them, "Do not argue along the way."

25They went up from Egypt and came to the land of Canaan, to Jacob their father.

26They told him, saying, "Joseph is still alive, and he rules over all the land of Egypt." His heart fainted, for he did not believe them.

27They spoke to him all the words Joseph had spoken to them, and when he saw the wagons Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived.

28Israel said, "Enough. Joseph my son is still alive. I will go and see him before I die."
