Genesis 36

1These are the generations of Esau; he is Edom.

2Esau took his wives from among Canaan's daughters: Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite.

3and Bashemath, daughter of Ishmael, sister of Nebaioth.

4Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, and Bashemath bore Reuel.

5And Aholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam, and Korah, the sons of Esau who were born to him in the land of Canaan.

6Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and everyone in his household, his livestock, all his animals, and all his possessions that he had acquired in the land of Canaan, and went to a country away from his brother Jacob.

7For their possessions were too great for them to dwell together, and the land of their sojourns could not bear them because of their livestock.

8Esau dwelt in Mount Seir. Esau—he is Edom.

9These are the generations of Esau, father of Edom, in Mount Seir.

10These are the names of Esau's sons: Eliphaz, son of Adah, Esau's wife; Reuel, son of Bashemath, Esau's wife.

11Eliphaz’s sons were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz.

12Timna was a concubine of Eliphaz, Esau's son, and she bore Amalek to Eliphaz. These were the sons of Adah, Esau's wife.

13These were Reuel's sons: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. These were Bashemath's sons, Esau's wife.

14These were the sons of Aholibamah, daughter of Anah, daughter of Zibeon, Esau's wife; she bore to Esau Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.

15These were the chiefs among Esau's sons, the sons of Eliphaz, Esau's firstborn: chief Teman, chief Omar, chief Zepho, chief Kenaz.

16Chief Korah, chief Gatam, chief Amalek—these were the chiefs of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; these were the sons of Adah.

17These are the sons of Reuel, Esau's son: chief Nahath, chief Zerah, chief Shammah, chief Mizzah. These are the chiefs of Reuel in the land of Edom. These are the sons of Bashemath, Esau's wife.

18These are the sons of Aholibamah, Esau's wife: chief Jeush, chief Jalam, chief Korah; these are the chiefs of Aholibamah, daughter of Anah, Esau's wife.

19These are the sons of Esau, and these their chiefs; he is Edom.

20These are the sons of Seir the Horite, who dwelt in the land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, and Anah.

21Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan—these are the chiefs of the Horites, sons of Seir in the land of Edom.

22Lotan's sons were Hori and Hemam, and Lotan's sister was Timna.

23And these are Shobal's sons: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.

24These are Zibeon's sons: Aiah and Anah—this is the Anah who found mules in the wilderness as he pastured the donkeys of Zibeon his father.

25These are Anah's children: Dishon and Aholibamah, Anah's daughter.

26These are the sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran.

27These are Ezer's sons: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan.

28These are Dishan's sons: Uz and Aran.

29These are the chiefs of the Horites: chief Lotan, chief Shobal, chief Zibeon, chief Anah.

30Chief Dishon, chief Ezer, chief Dishan—these are the chiefs of the Horites, their chiefs, in the land of Seir.

31These are the kings who reigned in the land of Edom before any king reigned over the sons of Israel.

32Bela son of Beor reigned in Edom, and his city's name was Dinhabah.

33Bela died, and Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah reigned after him.

34Jobab died, and Husham of Temanite land reigned in his place.

35Husham died, and Hadad son of Bedad, who struck Midian in the countryside of Moab, ruled after him. His city was named Avith.

36Hadad died, and Samlah from Masrekah reigned after him.

37Samlah died, and Shaul of Rehoboth by the river reigned in his place.

38Saul died, and Baal-hanan son of Achbor became king after him.

39Baal-hanan son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his place. His city bore the name Pau, and his wife bore the name Mehetabel, daughter of Matred, daughter of Mezahab.

40These are the names of Esau's chiefs, according to their families, their places, by their names: chief Timna, chief Alvah, chief Jetheth.

41duke Aholibamah, duke Elah, duke Pinon

42Chieftain Kenaz, chieftain Teman, chieftain Mibzar.

43Chief Magdiel, chief Iram—these are the chiefs of Edom by their settlements in the land of their possession; he is Esau, father of the Edomites.
