Leviticus 5

1If someone sins by hearing a summons under oath when serving as a witness, whether he saw or knew the matter, and does not disclose it, he shall bear his guilt.

2Or if someone touches something unclean, whether the body of an unclean wild animal, the body of unclean livestock, or the body of unclean swarming creatures, without realizing it, that person is unclean and guilty.

3Or if anyone touches human impurity, whatever kind defiles him, without realizing it, then once he becomes aware, he incurs guilt.

4Or if someone rashly utters with his lips to do evil or to do good, whatever a person rashly utters with an oath, when it is hidden from him; then when he knows of it, he shall be guilty concerning one of these.

5When he becomes guilty of one of these, he must confess his sin in that matter.

6He must bring his guilt offering to Yahweh for the sin he committed—a female from the flock, a lamb or a goat, as a sin offering; the priest will make atonement for him regarding that sin, and he will be forgiven.

7If he cannot bring a lamb, then for the wrong he has done he must present to Yahweh two turtledoves or two young pigeons—one as a sin offering, the other as a burnt offering.

8He must bring them to the priest, who will first present the one for the sin offering, twisting its head from its neck but not detaching it fully.

9He sprinkles some of the sin offering's blood on the side of the altar, and drains the rest of the blood at its base. It is a sin offering.

10He shall present the second as a burnt offering following the prescribed rite, and the priest shall make atonement for him for the sin he committed, so that he is forgiven.

11But if he cannot provide two turtledoves or two young pigeons, then for his sin he shall offer a tenth of an ephah of fine flour as a sin offering; he shall put no oil on it, nor any frankincense, for it is a sin offering.

12He must bring it to the priest, who will take a handful from it as its remembrance portion and burn it on the altar over Yahweh's fire offerings. It is a sin offering.

13The priest shall make atonement for him for his sin in any of these cases, and he shall be forgiven; the remainder shall belong to the priest as a grain offering.

14Yahweh spoke to Moses:

15If someone is unfaithful by sinning unwittingly in Yahweh's sacred gifts, then he must bring to Yahweh his guilt offering: a ram without defect from the flock, valued by your assessment in silver shekels according to the sanctuary shekel.

16He must restore what he wronged in the sacred things, adding a fifth more to it and giving it to the priest; the priest will atone for him with the guilt offering ram, and he will be forgiven.

17If someone sins by doing anything Yahweh has commanded against, even unknowingly, that person is guilty and must bear their iniquity.

18He must bring a flawless ram from the flock, valued as you determine, as a guilt offering to the priest, who will make atonement for him regarding whatever he sinned unknowingly, and he will be forgiven.

19It is a guilt offering; he has surely become guilty before Yahweh.
