Leviticus 22

1Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

2Tell Aaron and his sons to separate themselves from the holy things of the Israelites and not profane my holy name in what they consecrate to me; I am Yahweh.

3Say to them: Throughout your generations, any man among all your offspring who approaches the holy things that the sons of Israel consecrate to Yahweh while his uncleanness is on him—that soul shall be cut off from before me. I am Yahweh.

4Any descendant of Aaron who is leprous or has a discharge shall not eat the holy things until he is clean, nor whoever touches any unclean corpse or a man whose emission of seed goes out from him.

5Or anyone who touches any swarming creature whereby he becomes unclean, or a person whereby he becomes unclean, for any uncleanness of his.

6A person who touches it becomes unclean until evening and shall not eat of the holy things unless he washes his flesh in water.

7When the sun goes down, he becomes clean, and afterward he eats from the holy things, because it is his food.

8He shall not eat a carcass or anything torn so as to become unclean by it. I am Yahweh.

9They shall keep my charge, lest they bear sin for it and die in it if they profane it. I am Yahweh who sanctifies them.

10Any stranger shall not eat the holy thing; a priest's sojourner or hired servant shall not eat the holy thing.

11But if a priest buys a person with his money as a possession, he may eat of it; those born in his house may eat his food.

12If a priest's daughter marries a stranger, she shall not eat of the heave offering of the holy things.

13But if a priest's daughter becomes a widow or divorced, childless, and returns to her father's house as in her youth, she shall eat her father's bread; no stranger shall eat any of it.

14If a man eats something holy unwittingly, he shall add its fifth part to it and give the holy thing to the priest.

15They shall not profane the sacred offerings of Israel's sons that they present to Yahweh.

16and cause them to bear the guilt of iniquity when they eat their holy things, for I, Yahweh, sanctify them.

17Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

18Speak to Aaron, his sons, and all the Israelites, and tell them: Any man from the house of Israel or a sojourner in Israel who presents his offering—whether any of their vows or any of their freewill offerings that they bring to Yahweh as a burnt offering.

19To be acceptable to you, a male without blemish from the cattle, lambs, or goats.

20Whatever has a blemish in it, you shall not offer, for it will not be acceptable for you.

21When anyone presents a peace offering to Yahweh to fulfill a vow or a freewill offering from the herd or the flock, it must be without defect to gain acceptance; no blemish may be in it.

22Blind, or broken, or maimed, or with a wen, or scurvy, or scabbed—you shall not offer these to Yahweh, nor give any of them as a fire offering on the altar to Yahweh.

23You may offer an ox or a sheep that has a superfluous part or lacks parts as a freewill offering, but for a vow it shall not be accepted.

24You shall not bring to Yahweh anything bruised, crushed, torn, or cut; nor shall you do so in your land.

25Do not offer food to your God from the hand of a son of a foreigner—any of these—for their corruption is in them; a blemish is in them. They shall not be accepted for you.

26Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

27When an ox, lamb, or goat is born, it shall remain seven days with its mother; from the eighth day onward it shall be acceptable as an offering by fire to Yahweh.

28Whether an ox or a sheep, you shall not slaughter it and its young on one day.

29When you sacrifice a thanksgiving sacrifice to Yahweh, sacrifice it at your good pleasure.

30It shall be eaten that day; leave none of it until morning. I am Yahweh.

31Keep my commandments and do them. I am Yahweh.

32Do not defile my holy name, but I will be sanctified among the sons of Israel; I am Yahweh who sanctifies you.

33I am Yahweh who brought you out from the land of Egypt to be your God.
