Leviticus 13

1Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

2When a man has a swelling in the skin of his body, or a scab, or a bright spot, and it becomes on the skin of his body a mark of leprosy, he shall be brought to Aaron the priest, or to one of his sons the priests.

3The priest shall examine the infection in the skin of the body; if the hair in the infection has turned white and the infection's appearance is deeper than the skin of his body, it is a leprous infection, and the priest shall examine him and declare him unclean.

4If the bright spot is white in the skin of his body, its appearance not deeper than the skin, and its hair not turned white, then the priest shall shut up the plague seven days.

5The priest shall examine him on the seventh day, and behold, if the plague stands still in his sight and has not spread in the skin, then the priest shall shut him up for seven more days.

6The priest shall see him again on the seventh day, and if the infection looks dull and the infection has not spread in the skin, the priest shall purify him. It is a scab; he shall wash his garments and be clean.

7But if the scab spreads further on the skin after he has been seen by the priest for his cleansing, he shall be seen by the priest again.

8The priest shall see, and behold, the scab has spread on the skin; then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is leprosy.

9When the plague of leprosy is on a person, he shall be brought to the priest.

10The priest shall examine him, and behold, there is a white swelling in the skin, and it has turned the hair white, and raw living flesh is in the swelling.

11It is longstanding leprosy in the skin of his body, and the priest shall declare him unclean; he shall not isolate him, for he is unclean.

12If the leprosy spreads abroad in the skin, and the leprosy covers all the skin of the plague from his head even to his feet, everywhere it appears to the priest's eyes.

13The priest examines, and behold, the leprosy has covered all his flesh; he pronounces the plague clean—all of it has turned white: he is clean.

14When living flesh appears in him, he shall be unclean.

15The priest shall see the living flesh and make him unclean; the living flesh is unclean—it is leprosy.

16Or if the living flesh turns back and becomes white, he shall come to the priest.

17The priest examines him and sees the sore has become white; then the priest declares the sore clean. It is clean.

18When flesh has a boil on its skin and it has healed,

19If a white swelling or a reddish-white bright spot appears in the place of the boil, it shall be shown to the priest.

20The priest sees it, and behold, its appearance is lower than the skin and its hair has turned white; the priest pronounces him unclean. It is a plague of leprosy that has broken out in the boil.

21But if the priest examines it and sees no white hair in it, and it is not lower than the skin but is dull, then the priest shall shut him up seven days.

22But if it spreads in the skin, the priest shall declare him unclean. It is a plague.

23But if the bright spot remains in its place and has not spread, it is the inflammation of the boil, and the priest shall cleanse him.

24Or if the flesh has a burn from fire on its skin, and the live flesh of the burn becomes a bright spot, reddish-white or white.

25The priest shall examine it, and see: the hair in the bright spot has turned white, its appearance deeper than the skin—it is leprosy that has sprouted in the burn, so the priest shall declare him unclean; it is a leprous plague.

26But if the priest examines it and sees no white hair in the bright spot, and it is not lower than the skin but faded, then the priest shall isolate him seven days.

27The priest shall inspect him on the seventh day; if it spreads in the skin, the priest shall judge him unclean—it is a leprous plague.

28But if the bright spot remains beneath it without spreading in the skin, though faded, it is the swelling of the burn, and the priest shall purify him, for it is the inflammation of the burn.

29If a man or woman has a plague on the head or beard,

30The priest shall see the sore, and indeed its appearance is deeper than the skin, with yellow thin hair in it; the priest shall declare him unclean—it is a scall, leprosy of the head or the beard.

31And if the priest examines the plague of the scall, and behold, its appearance is not deeper than the skin, and there is no black hair in it, then the priest shall isolate the plague of the scall seven days.

32On the seventh day the priest shall look at the infection, and behold, if the scall has not spread, there is no yellow hair in it, and the appearance of the scall is not deeper than the skin.

33He shall be shaven, but shall not shave the scall, and the priest shall shut up the one with the scall for seven more days.

34On the seventh day the priest shall inspect the scall, and behold, if the scall has not spread in the skin and its appearance is not deeper than the skin, then the priest shall cleanse him; he shall wash his garments and be clean.

35But if the scall spreads in the skin after his cleansing,

36The priest shall examine him, and see, the scall has spread in the skin; the priest shall not inspect the yellow hair—he is unclean.

37But if the scall stands still in his eyes, and black hair has grown in it, the scall is healed; he is clean, and the priest shall pronounce him clean.

38If a man or a woman has bright spots, white bright spots, in the skin of their flesh,

39The priest shall look, and see, if the bright spots on the skin of their flesh are dim and white, it is a freckled spot that has broken out in the skin; he is clean.

40If a man's hair falls out from his head, he is bald. He is clean.

41But if the hair from the front of his head has fallen out, he is bald at the forehead. He is clean.

42But if a reddish-white sore appears on the bald head or the bald forehead, it is leprosy spreading in his bald head or his bald forehead.

43The priest shall examine him, and behold, the sore's swelling is white and reddish in his bald head, or in his bald forehead, like the appearance of leprosy in the skin of the flesh.

44He is a leprous man; he is unclean. The priest shall pronounce him unclean; his plague is on his head.

45The leper in whom the plague is shall tear his clothes, leave his head bare, cover his upper lip, and cry, "Unclean! Unclean!"

46All the days the plague is in him he shall be unclean; he is unclean. He shall dwell alone outside the camp—his dwelling.

47When a garment has a leprous mark in it, whether a wool garment or a linen garment,

48whether in the warp or the woof of linen or wool, or in a skin or anything fashioned from skin.

49If the plague is greenish or reddish in the garment, or in the skin, or in the warp, or in the woof, or in any skin article, it is a leprous plague, and it shall be shown to the priest.

50The priest shall inspect the plague and confine it seven days.

51He examines the plague on the seventh day. If the plague has spread in the garment, or in the warp, or in the woof, or in the skin, or in any work made from skin, the plague is gnawing leprosy. It is unclean.

52He shall burn the garment, whether the warp or the woof in wool or linen, or any leather article in which the plague is, for it is a fretting leprosy; it shall be burned in the fire.

53But if the priest sees that the plague has not spread in the garment, or in the warp, or in the woof, or in any article of skin,

54The priest shall command them to wash whatever has the plague in it, and he shall set it apart for another seven days.

55The priest shall examine the infection after it has been washed, and see, if the infection has not changed its color and the infection has not spread, it is unclean; you shall burn it in the fire—it is a spot that eats inward, whether from inside or outside.

56But if the priest sees the plague dim after it has been washed, he shall tear it out from the garment or the skin or the warp or the woof.

57And if it appears again in the garment, or in the warp, or in the woof, or in any leather article, it is spreading; you shall burn in the fire that in which the plague is.

58The garment, or the warp, or the woof, or any skin article that you wash, if the plague has departed from them, shall be washed a second time and will be clean.

59This is the law of the leprosy plague in a wool garment or linen, or in the warp or the woof, or in any skin article, to declare it clean or to declare it unclean.
