Job 37

1Indeed, at this my heart trembles and leaps from its place.

2Listen attentively to the roar of his voice, the rumble issuing from his mouth.

3He directs it beneath all the heavens, and his lightning to the earth's borders.

4After it a voice roars; he thunders with his majestic voice, and he does not hold them back because his voice is heard.

5God thunders wondrously with his voice, doing great things we do not know.

6For he says to the snow, "Cover the earth," to the shower of rain, and to the shower of his mighty rains.

7He seals the hand of every man so that all men may know his work.

8Wild beasts enter their lairs and dwell in their dens.

9The storm comes from the chamber, and cold from the north.

10God's breath gives frost, and the expanse of the waters is constricted.

11Yes, with rain he burdens the thick cloud; he scatters the cloud of his lightning.

12And it circles about, turning by his counsels to do all that he commands them upon the face of the habitable earth.

13Whether for correction, whether for his land, whether for mercy, he causes it to befall him.

14Listen to this, Job: stand and consider God's marvelous deeds.

15Do you know how God sets them in place and makes the light of his cloud shine?

16Do you know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of the one perfect in knowledge?

17How warm your clothes are when the earth lies quiet from the south wind?

18Can you, with him, spread out the skies, strong as a cast mirror?

19Reveal to us what we shall say to him, for we cannot arrange our words on account of darkness.

20Will it be told to him that I speak? If a man speaks, surely he will be swallowed up.

21Now they do not see the bright light in the clouds, but the wind passes and clears them.

22Gold comes from the north; God has awesome majesty.

23We cannot find the Almighty; great is his power, and justice and abundant righteousness—he does not oppress.

24Therefore humans fear him; he regards none of the wise-hearted.
