Job 35
Elihu answered and said,
Do you consider this just, that you said, "My righteousness is more than God's"?
For you say, "What advantage is there for you? What profit do I gain more than from my sin?"
I will answer you with words, and your companions with you.
Look at the heavens and see; behold the skies, which are higher than you.
If you sin, what do you do to him? If your transgressions multiply, what do you do to him?
If you are righteous, what do you give him? Or what does he take from your hand?
Your wickedness affects a man like you, and your righteousness a son of man.
They cry out because of the many oppressions; they shout for help from the power of the mighty.
No one says, "Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night?"
Teaches us more than the cattle of the earth and makes us wiser than the birds of the heavens.
There they cry out, but he does not answer because of the pride of the wicked.
Surely God will not hear a lie, nor will the Almighty consider it.
Even when you say you do not see him, judgment is before him, so wait for him.
But now, because he has not punished in his anger, neither does he greatly regard transgression.
Job vainly opens his mouth, multiplying words that lack knowledge.
