Job 18

Job 17Job 19

Bildad the Shuhite answered and said.

How long until you put an end to words? Consider, and afterwards we will speak.

Why are we counted as beasts and defiled in your eyes?

You who rend your soul in your anger—will the earth be forsaken for your sake, or the rock shift from its place?

Indeed, the light of the wicked will go out, and the spark of his fire will not shine.

Light darkens in his tent, and his lamp above him goes out.

His vigorous steps grow narrow, and his counsel hurls him down.

For by his feet he is cast into a net, and he walks upon a snare.

A snare seizes him by the heel; a robber prevails over him.

His cord lies hidden in the ground, his trap upon the path.

Terrors terrify him on every side and scatter him to his feet.

His strength will be hungry, and calamity ready beside him.

It devours the parts of his skin; the firstborn of death devours his parts.

His confidence will be torn from his tent, and it will march him to the king of terrors.

Whatever is not his will dwell in his tent. Brimstone will be scattered upon his dwelling.

His roots dry up from below, and his branch is cut off from above.

His memory perishes from the earth, and he has no name in the street.

They will thrust him from light into darkness and drive him from the world.

He will have neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any survivor in his dwelling places.

Those who come after are appalled at his day, as those before were seized with horror.

Surely these are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him who does not know God.
