Isaiah 54

1Shout for joy, barren one who has not borne; burst into song and cry aloud, you who have not labored in birth, for more numerous are the children of the desolate than the children of the married woman, says Yahweh.

2Enlarge the area of your tent, and let them spread the curtains of your dwellings; do not hold back: lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes.

3For you will burst forth to the right and to the left, and your offspring will dispossess nations and repopulate deserted cities.

4Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; neither be humiliated, for you will not be disgraced, because you will forget the shame of your youth, and the reproach of your widowhood you will not remember anymore.

5For the one who made you is your husband; Yahweh of hosts is his name, and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he will be called God of all the earth.

6For Yahweh has called you like a wife deserted and pained in spirit, a wife of your youth when rejected, says your God.

7For a brief moment I forsook you, but with great compassion I will gather you.

8In an outburst of wrath I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you, says Yahweh your Redeemer.

9For this is like the waters of Noah to me; as I have sworn that the waters of Noah will no more pass over the earth, so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you nor rebuke you.

10For the mountains may depart and the hills be shaken, but my steadfast love will not depart from you, nor my covenant of peace be removed, says Yahweh who shows you mercy.

11Afflicted, storm-tossed, and uncomforted—behold, I will set your stones in glistening colors and lay your foundations with sapphires.

12I will make your pinnacles of agate, your gates of carbuncle stones, and all your walls of pleasing stones.

13All your children will be taught by Yahweh, and your children will have great peace.

14You will be firm in righteousness; distant from oppression, for you will not tremble, and from dismay, for it will not come to you.

15Behold, they shall surely assemble, but not from me: whoever assembles against you shall fall because of you.

16Behold, I have created the smith who blows coals in the fire and brings forth a weapon for his work; and I have created the destroyer to bring ruin.

17No weapon formed against you will succeed, and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of Yahweh's servants, and their righteousness comes from me, says Yahweh.
