Isaiah 3
For behold, the Lord Yahweh of hosts takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah support and staff, every support of bread and every support of water.
the champion, the soldier, the judge, the prophet, the diviner, and the elder
the captain of fifty, the man of distinction, the counselor, the wise craftsman, and the discerning enchanter.
I will appoint boys as their princes, and babes will rule over them.
The people will be oppressed, man by man and man by his fellow; they will behave arrogantly—the youth against the elder, and the despised against the honored.
When a man seizes his brother from his father's house, he says, "You have a garment; be our ruler, and let this ruin be under your hand."
In that day he will cry out, saying, “I will not be a healer, for in my house there is no bread and no clothing; do not appoint me ruler of the people.”
For Jerusalem has stumbled and Judah has fallen, because their tongue and their deeds oppose Yahweh to provoke the eyes of his glory.
The look on their faces testifies against them; they declare their sin like Sodom and do not hide it. Woe to their soul! For they have dealt evil to themselves.
Say to the righteous, it is good, for they will eat the fruit of their deeds.
Woe to the wicked! Adversity awaits him, for the recompense of his hands will be done to him.
My people’s oppressors are children, and women rule over them. My people, your guides mislead you and swallow up the course of your paths.
Yahweh stands to contend and stands to judge the peoples.
Yahweh will enter into judgment with the elders of his people and their leaders: you have devoured the vineyard; the poor's plunder is in your houses.
Why do you crush my people and grind the faces of the afflicted? declares Lord Yahweh of hosts.
Yahweh declared, "Because the daughters of Zion are haughty and walk with extended necks and darting eyes, going with mincing steps, their feet jingling."
The Lord will smite the scalps of the daughters of Zion, and Yahweh will uncover their secret parts.
In that day the Lord will remove the beauty of the anklets, the headbands, and the crescent ornaments.
the pendants, the bracelets, and the veils
the tiaras, the ankle ornaments, the girdles, the scent boxes, the amulets
the rings and the nose rings,
the festive robes, the mantles, the veils, and the crisping pins
the glasses, the fine linens, the hoods, and the veils.
And it will be that instead of sweet spice there will be rottenness, instead of a girdle a rent, instead of the work of well hair baldness, instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth, burning instead of beauty.
Your men will fall by the sword, and your might in war.
Her gates will lament and mourn, and she, desolate on the ground, will sit.
