Isaiah 27

1In that day Yahweh will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent and Leviathan the twisting serpent with his cruel, great, and mighty sword, and he will kill the sea dragon that is in the sea.

2In that day, sing to her—a delightful vineyard.

3I, Yahweh, keep it every moment; I will water it lest anyone punish it—I will keep it night and day.

4No wrath is in me. Who would pit briers and thorns against me in battle? I would charge through it; I would consume it together.

5Or let him take hold of my stronghold, that he may make peace with me; let him make peace with me.

6In coming days Jacob will take root; Israel will flourish and blossom, and they will fill the surface of the world with fruit.

7Has he struck him with the blow from the one who struck him, or is he slain like the slaughter of those he slew?

8In measure, when you send it away, you contend with it; he removes it with his fierce blast in the day of the east wind.

9By this Jacob's iniquity will be atoned for, and this is all the fruit of removing his sin: when he reduces every stone of the altar to shattered chalk stones, the Asherim and sun-images will not arise.

10For the fortified city stands desolate, a dwelling abandoned and forsaken like the wilderness; there the calf will graze, and there it will lie down and devour its branches.

11When its branches dry up, they will break off; women come and set it ablaze, for it is a people without understanding; therefore its maker will not show it mercy, and its former will grant it no favor.

12In that day Yahweh will thresh from the channel of the River to the brook of Egypt, and you will be gathered one by one, children of Israel.

13In that day a great trumpet will sound, and those perishing in the land of Assyria and the outcasts in the land of Egypt will come and bow before Yahweh on the holy mountain at Jerusalem.
