Isaiah 52

1Awake, awake, clothe yourself with your strength, Zion; put on your glorious garments, Jerusalem, the holy city—for the uncircumcised and the unclean will come into you no longer.

2Shake the dust from yourself; rise and be seated, Jerusalem! Free yourselves from the bonds around your neck, captive daughter of Zion!

3For thus says Yahweh: "You were sold without cost, and you shall be redeemed without silver."

4For thus says the Lord Yahweh: My people went down into Egypt long ago to dwell there, and Assyria oppressed them without reason.

5And now, what is there for me here? declares Yahweh, for my people has been taken for nothing—their rulers make them howl, declares Yahweh—and continually every day my name is blasphemed.

6Therefore my people will know my name; therefore on that day they will know that I am the one speaking—behold, it is I.

7How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the one bringing good news, proclaiming peace, bringing good news of good, proclaiming salvation, saying to Zion, "Your God reigns!"

8Your watchmen raise their voices together and shout for joy, for they will see eye to eye when Yahweh returns to Zion.

9Break forth, rejoice together, you ruins of Jerusalem; for Yahweh has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem.

10Yahweh has uncovered his holy arm in the sight of all nations, and all the ends of the earth have seen our God's salvation.

11Go away, go away; come out from there, touch nothing unclean; come out from her midst; purify yourselves, you who carry the vessels of Yahweh.

12For you shall not go out in haste, nor shall you go in flight; for Yahweh goes before you, and the God of Israel gathers you.

13See, my servant will prosper; he will be exalted, lifted up, and very high.

14Just as many were appalled at you, so his appearance was disfigured more than any man's, and his form more than the sons of men.

15So he will sprinkle many nations; kings will shut their mouths at him, for what had not been told them they will see, and what they had not heard they will understand.
