Isaiah 20

1In the year Tartan arrived at Ashdod, when Sargon king of Assyria dispatched him, he waged war on Ashdod and captured it.

2At that time Yahweh spoke through Isaiah son of Amoz, saying, "Go, remove the sackcloth from your waist and take off your sandals from your feet." He did so, walking naked and barefoot.

3Yahweh said, “As my servant Isaiah walked naked and barefoot for three years, a sign and wonder concerning Egypt and Cush.”

4So the king of Assyria will carry off the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Cush, youths and elders, naked and barefoot, with buttocks bared to Egypt's shame.

5They will be terrified and ashamed because of Cush, their hope, and because of Egypt, their glory.

6The inhabitant of this island will say on that day, "See, such is our expectation, where we fled for help to be rescued from the king of Assyria. How will we escape?"
