Ezekiel 6

1The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

2Son of man, turn your face toward the mountains of Israel and prophesy against them.

3Say to the mountains of Israel: Hear the word of the Lord Yahweh; thus says the Lord Yahweh to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys: See, I myself am bringing a sword against you, and I will destroy your high places.

4Your altars will lie desolate, your images will lie shattered, and I will hurl your slain down before your idols.

5I will lay the corpses of Israel's sons before their idols, and I will scatter your bones around your altars.

6In all your dwelling places the cities will become ruins, and the high places will lie desolate, so that your altars will be ruined and desolated, your idols shattered and brought to nothing, your images hewn down, and your works obliterated.

7The slain will fall among you, and you will know that I am Yahweh.

8Yet I will spare survivors from the sword for you among the nations when you are scattered through the lands.

9Your survivors will remember me among the nations where they go into captivity, because I have been broken by their promiscuous heart that turned from me, and by their eyes that lusted after their idols; they will loathe themselves to their faces for the wrongs they did in all their abominations.

10They will know that I am Yahweh; I have not spoken for nothing to accomplish this calamity against them.

11Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Clap your hand, stamp your foot, and say, "Alas!" for all the evil abominations of the house of Israel, because they will fall by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence.

12The one far off will die by plague, the one nearby will fall by the sword, and the one remaining and besieged will die by famine; thus I will complete my wrath on them.

13You will know that I am Yahweh when their slain lie among their idols all around their altars, on every high hill, on all the mountaintops, under every green tree, and under every thick oak, the places where they offered pleasing scents there to all their idols.

14I will extend my hand against them and turn the land into desolation and horror from the wilderness to Diblah in all their dwelling places, and they will know that I am Yahweh.
