Ezekiel 43
Then he led me again to the gate, the gate facing the way of the east.
Behold, the glory of the God of Israel came by way of the east, his voice like the sound of many waters, and the earth shone from his glory.
It resembled the appearance of the vision I saw—like the vision I saw when I came to destroy the city; the visions were like the vision I saw by the Chebar River, and I fell facedown.
The glory of Yahweh entered the house by way of the gate facing east.
The spirit lifted me up and brought me into the inner court, and behold, Yahweh's glory filled the house.
And I heard someone speaking to me from the house, and a man was standing beside me.
He said to me, “Son of man, the place of my throne and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell there in the midst of the sons of Israel forever. The house of Israel will no longer defile my holy name, neither they nor their kings, by their prostitution and by the corpses of their kings in their high places.”
When they set their threshold alongside mine and their doorpost next to my doorpost, with only a wall between me and them, they defiled my holy name by their abominations that they committed, so I consumed them in my anger.
Now let them remove their prostitution and the corpses of their kings far from me, and I will dwell among them forever.
You, son of man, declare the house to the house of Israel, that they be ashamed of their iniquities, and let them measure the pattern.
If they are ashamed of everything they have done, inform them of the house's form and its plan, its exits and entrances, all its forms and all its statutes, all my forms and its forms, all its law and its laws; write it before their eyes, so they will keep all its form and all its statutes and carry them out.
This is the law of the house: atop the mountain its entire boundary all around shall be most holy. See, this is the law of the house.
These are the measures of the altar in cubits—a cubit and a handbreadth—with the bottom a cubit high and a cubit broad, its border around its rim one span; and this is the height of the altar.
From the bottom on the ground to the lower ledge measures two cubits with a breadth of one cubit, and from the smaller ledge to the greater ledge four cubits with a breadth of one cubit.
The altar is four cubits; and from the altar upward there are four horns.
The altar hearth is twelve long by twelve wide, square in its four sides.
And the ledge measures fourteen in length and fourteen in breadth across its four sides, with a half-cubit border around it, its bottom a cubit all around, and its steps facing east.
He said to me, “Son of man, thus says Lord Yahweh: These are the statutes of the altar on the day it is made, to offer burnt offerings upon it and to sprinkle blood upon it.”
You shall give to the priests, the Levites who are Zadok's descendants, those who draw near to me to serve me, declares the Lord Yahweh, a young bull for a sin offering.
You shall take some of its blood and apply it to its four horns, to the four corners of the ledge, and to the border all around; thus you shall purify it and make atonement for it.
You shall take the bull of the sin offering, and he shall burn it in the appointed place of the house, outside the sanctuary.
On the second day you shall offer a perfect male goat for a sin offering, and they shall purify the altar, as they purified it with the bull.
When you finish the cleansing, offer an unblemished bull calf and an unblemished ram from the flock.
You shall bring them before Yahweh, the priests shall cast salt on them, and they shall offer them up as a burnt offering to Yahweh.
Seven days you shall prepare a goat for a sin offering each day, and they shall prepare a young bull and a ram from the flock without blemish.
Seven days they shall atone for the altar and cleanse it and consecrate their hands.
When they complete the days, then on the eighth day and thereafter the priests will offer your burnt offerings and your peace offerings on the altar, and I will accept you, declares the Lord Yahweh.
