Ezekiel 15

1Yahweh's word came to me, saying,

2Son of man, what is the vine tree better than any tree, the branch which was among the trees of the forest?

3Is wood taken from it for any work, or do they take a peg from it to hang any vessel on it?

4See, it is given to the fire for burning; the fire has consumed both its ends, and its middle is charred. Will it be useful for any work?

5See, when it was perfect, it was unfit for any work—how much less, when fire has devoured it and scorched it, will it yet be suitable for work?

6Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: As the vine wood fares among the forest trees, which I gave to the fire to consume, so I give Jerusalem's inhabitants.

7I will turn my face against them—from the fire they come out, and the fire will consume them—and you will know that I am Yahweh when I turn my face against them.

8I will turn the land into a wasteland because they have trespassed grievously, declares the Lord Yahweh.
