Ezekiel 27
The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
You, son of man, raise a lamentation over Tyre.
Say to Tyre, you who dwell at the sea's entrances, merchant of nations to many islands: Thus says the Lord Yahweh, "Tyre, you have said, 'I am perfect in beauty.' "
Your borders are in the heart of the seas; your builders have made your beauty perfect.
They built all your planks from fir trees of Senir; they took a cedar from Lebanon to fashion a mast for you.
They made your oars from the oaks of Bashan; they made your benches of ivory from the company of Ashurites from the islands of Kittim.
Fine embroidered linen from Egypt was your sail, to serve as your banner; blue and purple from the islands of Elishah was your covering.
Residents of Sidon and Arvad were your rowers; your wise men, Tyre, were in you—they were your pilots.
The elders of Gebal and its wise men were your seam repairers; all the ships of the sea and their mariners were in you to trade your merchandise.
Persians, Lydians, and Putites were in your army, your warriors; they hung shields and helmets in you; they displayed your splendor.
Men of Arvad with your army were on your walls all around, and Gammadim were in your towers; they hung their shields on your walls all around; they perfected your beauty.
Tarshish was your merchant because of the abundance of all riches; with silver, iron, tin, and lead, they traded for your goods.
Javan, Tubal, and Meshech were your merchants; they exchanged human lives and bronze vessels for your wares.
Those from the house of Togarmah supplied horses, horsemen, and mules for your wares.
Sons of Dedan were your merchants; many islands were the merchandise of your hand—they returned your present: horns of ivory and ebony.
Syria was your merchant because of the abundance of your handiworks; they traded your wares for emeralds, purple, embroidered work, fine linen, coral, and agate.
Judah and the land of Israel, your merchants, traded wheat from Minnith, Pannag, honey, oil, and balm for your wares.
Damascus was your merchant amid the abundance of your workmanship, for the abundance of all wealth, with Helbon wine and white wool.
Dan also, Javan, and Uzal supplied bright iron, cassia, and calamus for your wares; these were in your market.
Dedan was your merchant in precious garments for chariots.
Arabia and all the princes of Kedar—they traded with you in lambs, rams, and goats; they were your merchants.
The merchants of Sheba and Raamah were your merchants; they traded the best of all spices, all precious stones, and gold for your wares.
Haran, Canneh, and Eden, merchants of Sheba, Asshur, and Chilmad, were your merchants.
These were your merchants in all kinds of wares—in blue garments and embroidered work, and chests of rich apparel bound with cords and made of cedar—among your merchandise.
Ships of Tarshish were your caravans for your trade; you brimmed full and grew immensely glorious in the heart of the seas.
Your rowers brought you into great waters; the east wind broke you in the heart of the seas.
Your riches, your wares, your merchandise, your sailors, your pilots, your menders of breaches, your traders in your merchandise, all your warriors who are in you, and all your company in your midst, will fall into the heart of the seas on the day of your ruin.
The suburbs will quake at the sound of your pilots' cry.
All the oarsmen, the mariners, and all the pilots of the sea will come down from their ships; they will stand on the land.
They will make their voice heard over you and cry out bitterly, casting up dust upon their heads, and they will roll themselves in the ashes.
They will make themselves completely bald for you, gird themselves with sackcloth, and weep for you with embittered souls in bitter mourning.
In their wailing they will raise a dirge for you and keen over you: "Who rivals Tyre, like the one silenced in the heart of the sea?"
When your wares went out from the seas, you satisfied many peoples and enriched the kings of the earth with the abundance of your riches and your merchandise.
When you were broken by the seas in the depths of the waters, your merchandise and all your company fell in your midst.
All who dwell in the islands are appalled at you, and their kings shudder horribly, their faces quaking.
Merchants among the nations hiss at you; you have become a terror, and you will never exist again.
