Ezekiel 13
Yahweh's word came to me, saying,
Son of man, prophesy against Israel's prophets who prophesy, and tell those who prophesy from their heart, "Hear Yahweh's word."
Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Woe to the prophets, the fools, who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing.
Israel, your prophets have been like foxes in the wastes.
You have not mounted the breaches, nor built a wall for the house of Israel to stand in the battle on the day of Yahweh.
They have prophesied falsehood and deceitful divination, declaring, "Yahweh declares," but Yahweh has not sent them, and they have made others hope that the word would be confirmed.
Haven't you seen a false vision and spoken deceitful divination, saying, "Yahweh declares," but I have not spoken?
Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Because you have spoken falsehood and seen lies, therefore behold, I am against you, declares the Lord Yahweh.
My hand will be against the prophets who see falsehood and the diviners of lies; they will not be in the assembly of my people, nor recorded in the register of the house of Israel, nor enter the ground of Israel; and you will know that I am the Lord Yahweh.
Because, even because they have misled my people by saying "Peace," when there is no peace, and one builds a wall—behold, they plaster it with whitewash.
Say to those who spread untempered plaster that it will fall: flooding rain will come, and you, great hailstones, will fall, while storm winds tear it apart.
Look, when the wall falls, will they not say to you, “Where is the plaster you plastered it with?”
Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: I will break it open with windstorms in my wrath, and there will be flooding rain in my anger, and large hailstones in fury to destroy it utterly.
I will demolish the wall you plastered with worthless mortar, hurl it to the ground, and expose its foundation; it will collapse, destroying you within it, and you will know that I am Yahweh.
So I will spend my wrath on the wall and those who plastered it with whitewash, and I will say to you, "No wall remains, nor its plasterers."
the prophets of Israel who prophesy to Jerusalem and the seers for her—visions of peace—when there is no peace, declares the Lord Yahweh.
You, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people who prophesy from their hearts, and prophesy against them.
And say, Thus says Lord Yahweh: Woe to those sewing pillows on all the joints of the hands and making kerchiefs on the head of every stature to hunt souls! Will you hunt the souls of my people and keep souls alive for yourselves?
You have defiled me among my people for handfuls of barley and morsels of bread, to kill souls that should not die and to keep alive souls that should not live, by your lies to my people who listen to falsehoods.
Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I am against your pillows, which you hunt souls with there to make them fly; I will tear them from your arms and release the souls you hunt to make them fly.
I will tear your veils and rescue my people from your grasp, and they will no longer be in your grasp to be ensnared; you will know that I am Yahweh.
Because you have grieved the heart of the righteous with lies, though I have not grieved him, and strengthened the hands of the wicked so he would not return from his evil way to preserve his life.
Therefore you shall no longer prophesy lies or practice divination. I will deliver my people from your hand, and you shall know that I am Yahweh.
