Ezekiel 28

The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

Son of man, say to Tyre's ruler: Thus says the Lord Yahweh, because your heart grew haughty and you declared, "I am a god, I dwell in the seat of God in the heart of the seas," yet you are a man, not a god, though you set your heart like God's heart.

See, you are wiser than Daniel; no secret is hidden from you.

By your wisdom and understanding you acquired wealth for yourself, and amassed gold and silver in your treasuries.

Through the abundance of your wisdom and your trade, you multiplied your wealth, and your heart grew haughty because of your wealth.

Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Because you have set your heart like God's heart.

Therefore, look, I will bring foreigners against you, the tyrants of the nations, and they will bare their swords against your wisdom's beauty and profane your splendor.

They will bring you down to the pit, and you will die the deaths of the slain in the heart of the seas.

Will you say before your killer, "I am God"? But you are man, not God, in the hand of him who defiles you.

You will die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of foreigners, for I have spoken, declares the Lord Yahweh.

Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

Son of man, raise a lament over the king of Tyre and say to him, "Lord Yahweh declares: You seal the measure, full of wisdom and complete in beauty."

In Eden, God's garden, you were; every precious stone covered you—sardius, topaz, diamond, beryl, onyx, jasper, sapphire, emerald, carbuncle, and gold—the craftsmanship of your timbrels and pipes was in you, prepared on the day you were created.

You were the anointed cherub who covers; I placed you so you were on the holy mountain of God; you walked back and forth in the midst of the stones of fire.

You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created until iniquity was found in you.

Through the abundance of your trade they filled your midst with violence, and you sinned; so I defiled you from God's mountain and destroyed you, covering cherub, from amid the stones of fire.

Your heart grew haughty because of your beauty; you ruined your wisdom because of your splendor; I hurled you to the ground, set you before kings for them to gaze upon you.

By the abundance of your iniquities, through the injustice of your commerce, you defiled your sanctuaries, so I brought fire out from within you; it consumed you, and I reduced you to ashes on the earth before the eyes of all who see you.

All who know you among the nations are appalled at you; you have become terrors, and you cease to exist forever.

Yahweh's word came to me, saying.

Son of man, face Sidon and prophesy against it.

Say, "Thus says Lord Yahweh: Behold, I am against you, Sidon, and I will be glorified in your midst; they will know that I am Yahweh when I execute judgments in her and sanctify myself in her."

I will send pestilence into her and blood into her streets, and the slain will fall in her midst by the sword against her from all around, and they will know that I am Yahweh.

No longer will there be for the house of Israel a goading brier or a painful thorn from all around them, their despisers; and they will know that I am the Lord Yahweh.

Thus says the Lord Yahweh: When I gather the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they were scattered, and am sanctified among them in the sight of the nations, then they will dwell in their land that I gave to my servant Jacob.

They will dwell securely in it, build houses, and plant vineyards; they will dwell securely when I execute judgments on all those around them who despise them, and they will know that I am Yahweh their God.
