Ezekiel 30

1The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

2Son of man, prophesy and say: Thus declares the Lord Yahweh, "Howl, woe to the day!"

3For the day draws near, the day of Yahweh draws near; it will be a day of clouds, a time of the nations.

4A sword will come to Egypt, and there will be agony in Cush when the slain fall in Egypt; they will seize her multitude, and her foundations will be demolished.

5Cush, Put, Lud, all the mixed peoples, Chub, and the inhabitants of the land of the covenant with them will fall by the sword.

6Thus says Yahweh: Those who uphold Egypt shall fall, and the majesty of her strength shall descend from Migdol to Syene; by the sword they shall fall within her, declares the Lord Yahweh.

7They will lie desolate among desolated lands, and her cities among ruined cities.

8They will know that I am Yahweh when I bring fire on Egypt and all her helpers are broken.

9On that day messengers will depart from my presence in ships to terrify secure Cush, and anguish will seize them as on the day of Egypt; for behold, it comes.

10Thus says the Lord Yahweh: I will bring the multitude of Egypt to an end by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon.

11He and his people with him, the tyrants of the nations, will come to destroy the land, and they will draw their swords against Egypt and fill the land with the slain.

12I will dry up the rivers and sell the land into the hands of evildoers, and I will desolate the land and everything in it by the hands of foreigners: I, Yahweh, have spoken.

13Thus says the Lord Yahweh: I will destroy the idols and put an end to the worthless images in Noph; no prince will arise again from the land of Egypt, and I will put fear in the land of Egypt.

14I will lay Pathros waste, kindle fire in Zoan, and execute judgments in No.

15I will pour out my wrath on Sin, Egypt's stronghold, and I will cut off the multitude of No.

16I will kindle fire in Egypt: Sin will writhe greatly, No will burst open, and Noph will have distresses by day.

17Young men of Aven and Pi-beseth will fall by the sword, and these cities will go into captivity.

18In Tahpanhes the day will darken when I break Egypt's yokes there, and the pride of her strength will cease in her; she will be covered by a cloud, and her daughters will go into captivity.

19I will perform judgments in Egypt, and they will know that I am Yahweh.

20In the eleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh of the month, Yahweh's word came to me, saying.

21Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and look, it has not been bandaged to apply remedies, to place a roller to bind it, to strengthen it to grasp the sword.

22Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: See, I oppose Pharaoh king of Egypt, and I will break his arms, the strong and the broken, and I will make the sword drop from his hand.

23I will scatter Egypt among the nations and disperse them through the lands.

24I will strengthen the king of Babylon's arms and put my sword in his hand, but I will break Pharaoh's arms, and he will groan before him with groanings of the slain.

25I will strengthen the arms of Babylon's king, while Pharaoh's arms fall, and they will know that I am Yahweh when I put my sword into the hand of Babylon's king and he stretches it out upon the land of Egypt.

26I will scatter Egypt among the nations and disperse them through the lands, and they will know that I am Yahweh.
