Exodus 15

1Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to Yahweh and declared, "I will sing to Yahweh, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and its rider he has hurled into the sea."

2Yah is my might and my song; he has become my deliverance. This is my God, and I will glorify him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

3Yahweh is a warrior; Yahweh is his name.

4He hurled Pharaoh's chariots and his army into the sea, and his elite captains sank in the Red Sea.

5Abysses cover them; they sank into the depths like a stone.

6Your right hand, Yahweh, is glorious in power; your right hand, Yahweh, crushes the enemy.

7In the greatness of your majesty you crushed those rising against you; you unleashed your burning wrath, which devoured them like stubble.

8With the blast of your nostrils the waters piled up, floods stood erect like a heap; the depths congealed in the heart of the sea.

9The enemy said, “I will pursue, overtake, divide the spoil; my soul will gorge on them; I will draw my sword, my hand will destroy them.”

10You blew with your breath; the sea closed over them. They sank like lead in mighty waters.

11Who is like you, Yahweh, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awe-inspiring in praises, performing wonders?

12You extended your right hand; the earth devoured them.

13In your mercy you led this people whom you redeemed; in your strength you guided them to your holy dwelling.

14Peoples have heard; they tremble. Pangs seize Philistia's inhabitants.

15Then Edom's chieftains were terrified; trembling seizes Moab's mighty men; all Canaan's dwellers melt away.

16Dread and fear fall upon them; by the might of your arm they stand motionless as a stone until your people cross over, Yahweh, until the nation you have acquired crosses over.

17You will bring them in and plant them on the mountain of your inheritance, the place you have made for your dwelling, Yahweh, the sanctuary, O Lord, which your hands have established.

18Yahweh will reign forever and ever.

19For Pharaoh's horses entered the sea with his chariots and horsemen, and Yahweh turned the sea's waters back upon them, while the sons of Israel crossed dry ground amid the sea.

20Miriam the prophetess, Aaron's sister, took a timbrel in her hand, and all the women went out after her with timbrels and dances.

21Miriam answered them, “Sing to Yahweh, for gloriously exalted is he; horse and rider he has hurled into the sea.”

22Moses led Israel from the Red Sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; they traveled three days in the wilderness and found no water.

23They came to Marah but could not drink the waters there because they were bitter; therefore it was named Marah.

24The people grumbled against Moses, saying, "What shall we drink?"

25He cried out to Yahweh, and Yahweh pointed out wood to him; he hurled it into the waters, and the waters became sweet. There he appointed a statute and an ordinance for them, and there he tested them.

26He said, “If you carefully heed the voice of Yahweh your God, do what is right in his eyes, listen to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will bring none of the sicknesses upon you that I brought upon Egypt, for I am Yahweh your healer.”

27They came to Elim, where there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees, and they encamped there by the waters.
