1 Chronicles 9

1All Israel was listed in the genealogies, and there they are, recorded in the book of Israel's kings; Judah was exiled to Babylon for their unfaithfulness.

2The first dwellers who occupied their possessions in their cities were Israel, the priests, the Levites, and the Nethinim.

3In Jerusalem lived some of the sons of Judah, some of the sons of Benjamin, and some of the sons of Ephraim and Manasseh.

4Uthai son of Ammihud, son of Omri, son of Imri, son of Bani of Benjamin, from the sons of Perez son of Judah.

5From the Shilonites: Asaiah the firstborn and his sons.

6From Zerah's sons: Jeuel and their brothers, six hundred ninety.

7Of Benjamin's sons: Sallu son of Meshullam, son of Hodaviah, son of Hasenuah.

8And Ibneiah son of Jeroham, and Elah son of Uzzi son of Michri, and Meshullam son of Shephatiah son of Reuel son of Ibnijah.

9and their brothers, according to their generations, nine hundred fifty-six. All these men were heads of their fathers' houses.

10Among the priests: Jedaiah, Jehoiarib, and Jachin.

11And Azariah son of Hilkiah, son of Meshullam, son of Zadok, son of Meraioth, son of Ahitub, ruler of the house of God.

12and Adaiah son of Jeroham, son of Pashhur, son of Malchijah, and Maasai son of Adiel, son of Jahzerah, son of Meshullam, son of Meshillemith, son of Immer;

13And their brothers, heads of their fathers' houses, one thousand seven hundred sixty, mighty men of valor for the work of the service of the house of God.

14From the Levites, Shemaiah son of Hasshub, son of Azrikam, son of Hashabiah, from the sons of Merari.

15and Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal, and Mattaniah son of Micha, son of Zichri, son of Asaph,

16and Obadiah son of Shemaiah son of Galal son of Jeduthun, and Berechiah son of Asa son of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites.

17The gatekeepers were Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their brothers, Shallum the chief.

18They, who were at the king's gate to the east until now, were the gatekeepers for the camps of the sons of Levi.

19Shallum son of Kore son of Ebiasaph son of Korah, and his brothers of his father's house, the Korahites, oversaw the work of service as keepers of the tabernacle thresholds, while their fathers had charge over Yahweh's camp as keepers of the entrance.

20Phinehas son of Eleazar was their chief in former times, and Yahweh was with him.

21Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was doorkeeper at the entrance to the tent of meeting.

22All the chosen gatekeepers at the thresholds were two hundred twelve; they were enrolled by genealogy in their villages, whom David and Samuel the seer established in their faithful office.

23They and their sons were in charge of the gates of Yahweh's house, the house of the tabernacle, by their divisions.

24There were gatekeepers for the four winds: east, west, north, and south.

25Their brothers in their villages were to come every seven days from time to time with these.

26For these four chief gatekeepers, the Levites, were in a position of trust over the chambers and the treasuries in the house of God.

27They dwelt around the house of God, because the charge was upon them, and they managed the opening morning by morning.

28Some of them were in charge of the service vessels, for by count they brought them in and by count took them out.

29Some of them were put in charge of the vessels, all the holy vessels, the fine flour, the wine, the oil, the frankincense, and the spices.

30Some sons of the priests compounded the ointment for the spices.

31Mattithiah, a Levite, firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, held the position of trust over the things baked in pans.

32Some of the sons of the Kohathites among their brothers were in charge of the rows of bread, to prepare them every Sabbath.

33These are the singers, heads of the fathers of the Levites, who were free and exempt in the chambers, for day and night they were responsible for the work.

34These were heads of the Levites' ancestral houses throughout their generations, chief men; they lived in Jerusalem.

35In Gibeon lived Jeiel, father of Gibeon, whose wife's name was Maacah.

36His firstborn son Abdon, Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, and Nadab.

37Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah, and Mikloth.

38Mikloth fathered Shimeam, and they too lived with their brothers in Jerusalem, opposite their brothers.

39Ner fathered Kish, Kish fathered Saul, and Saul fathered Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal.

40Jonathan’s son was Merib-baal, and Meri-baal fathered Micah.

41Micah's sons were Pithon, Melech, and Tahrea.

42Ahaz fathered Jarah; Jarah fathered Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri; Zimri fathered Moza.

43Moza fathered Binea; Rephaiah his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son.

44Azel had six sons named Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan; these were Azel's sons.
