Chronicles 14

Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David with cedars, masons, and carpenters to build him a house.

David knew that Yahweh had made him king over Israel because his kingdom had been exalted on high for the sake of his people Israel.

David took more wives in Jerusalem, and David fathered more sons and daughters.

These are the names of the children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon.

Ibhar, Elishua, and Eliphelet

Nogah, Nepheg, and Japhia,

Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.

The Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, and all the Philistines went up to seek David. David heard and went out against them.

The Philistines came and raided the valley of Rephaim.

David asked God, saying, "Shall I advance against the Philistines? Will you give them into my hand?" Yahweh said to him, "Advance, and I will give them into your hand."

They advanced to Baal-perazim, and David struck them there. David said, "God has broken through upon my enemies by my hand, like the bursting of waters." So they named that place Baal-perazim.

They abandoned their gods there, and David ordered them burned with fire.

The Philistines once more raided the valley.

David asked God again, and God said to him, "Do not go up after them; circle around from over them and come upon them opposite the mulberry trees."

When you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then go out to battle, for God has gone ahead of you to strike the Philistine army.

David did as God commanded him, and they struck the Philistines' army from Gibeon to Gezer.

David's fame spread through all the lands, and Yahweh put dread of him upon all nations.
