1 Chronicles 24

1The divisions of the sons of Aaron: Aaron's sons, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

2Nadab and Abihu died before their father and had no children, so Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests.

3David, Zadok from Eleazar's sons, and Ahimelech from Ithamar's sons, divided them according to their charge in their service.

4More chief men were found among the sons of Eleazar than among the sons of Ithamar, and they divided them: sixteen heads of fathers' houses for the sons of Eleazar, and eight for the sons of Ithamar according to their fathers' houses.

5They divided them by lots, one with another, for there were chiefs of the sanctuary and chiefs of God among the sons of Eleazar and the sons of Ithamar.

6Shemaiah son of Nethanel the scribe, one of the Levites, recorded them before the king and the princes, Zadok the priest, Ahimelech son of Abiathar, and the heads of the fathers for the priests and the Levites—one father's house taken for Eleazar, and taken for Ithamar.

7The first lot came out to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah.

8The third for Harim, the fourth for Seorim.

9the fifth for Malchijah, the sixth for Mijamin

10The seventh for Hakkoz, the eighth for Abijah.

11For Jeshua, the ninth; for Shecaniah, the tenth.

12The eleventh to Eliashib, the twelfth to Jakim.

13the thirteenth for Huppah, the fourteenth for Jeshebeab

14The fifteenth, Bilgah, the sixteenth, Immer.

15The seventeenth was Hezir, the eighteenth Happizzez.

16The nineteenth was Pethahiah, the twentieth Jehezekel.

17The twenty-first for Jachin, the twenty-second for Gamul.

18To Delaiah the twenty-third, to Maaziah the twenty-fourth.

19These were their appointments for their service to enter the house of Yahweh according to their ordinance by Aaron their father, as Yahweh the God of Israel had commanded him.

20The remaining sons of Levi: Shubael of Amram's sons; Jehdeiah of Shubael's sons.

21Rehabiah: Isshiah the head of Rehabiah's sons.

22The Izharites: Shelomoth. The sons of Shelomoth: Jahath.

23Jeriah's sons: Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, Jekameam the fourth.

24Uzziel's sons: Micah; Micah's sons: Shamir.

25Micah's brother, Ishiah; Zechariah from Ishiah's sons.

26Merari’s sons were Mahli and Mushi; Jaaziah’s sons were Beno.

27The sons of Merari of Jaaziah: Beno, Shoham, Zaccur, and Ibri.

28Mahli had Eleazar, but he had no sons.

29For Kish: the sons of Kish were Jerahmeel.

30Mushi's sons were Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth. These were the sons of the Levites by their fathers' houses.

31They also cast lots just like their brothers the sons of Aaron, before David the king, Zadok, Ahimelech, and the heads of the fathers for the priests and Levites—the chief fathers just like his younger brother.
