1 Chronicles 16

1They brought the ark of God and placed it in the center of the tent David had set up for it, and they presented burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.

2When David finished offering the burnt offering and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Yahweh.

3He distributed to all Israel, both men and women, a loaf of bread, a good piece of meat, and a flagon apiece.

4He appointed some of the Levites to serve before the ark of Yahweh, and to remember, give thanks, and praise Yahweh, God of Israel.

5Asaph the chief, his second Zechariah, Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel with psalteries and harps; and Asaph with cymbals, resoundingly.

6Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually before the ark of God's covenant.

7Then on that day David first delivered thanksgiving to Yahweh by the hand of Asaph and his brothers.

8Praise Yahweh, invoke his name, proclaim his deeds among the peoples.

9Sing to him, sing praises to him, declare all his marvelous works.

10Boast in his holy name; let the heart of those who seek Yahweh rejoice.

11Seek Yahweh and his strength; seek his face continually.

12Remember his wondrous deeds that he has done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth.

13You offspring of Israel, his servant, sons of Jacob, his chosen ones.

14He is Yahweh our God whose judgments are in all the earth.

15Remember his covenant forever, the word he commanded to a thousand generations.

16which he made with Abraham, his oath to Isaac.

17He established it as a statute for Jacob, an everlasting covenant for Israel.

18saying, "I will give you the land of Canaan, the allotment of your inheritance."

19When you were a small number of men, only a few, and sojourners in it.

20They wandered from nation to nation, from kingdom to another people.

21He permitted no man to oppress them, and he rebuked kings on their account.

22Do not touch my anointed ones, and do no harm to my prophets.

23Sing to Yahweh, all the earth; proclaim his salvation from day to day.

24Declare his glory among the nations, his wonders among all peoples.

25For Yahweh is great and greatly praised; he is to be feared above all gods.

26For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but Yahweh made the heavens.

27Splendor and majesty are before him; might and joy are in his place.

28Ascribe to Yahweh, clans of the nations, ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength!

29Ascribe to Yahweh the glory of his name, bring an offering, and come before him; worship Yahweh in the splendor of holiness.

30Tremble before him, all the earth; the world also stands firm, never to be shaken.

31Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth exult; let them say among the nations, "Yahweh reigns!"

32Let the sea roar and all it contains; let the field rejoice, and everything in it.

33Then the trees of the forest will rejoice aloud before Yahweh, for he comes to judge the earth.

34Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his mercy endures forever.

35Say, "Save us, God of our salvation, gather us and rescue us from the nations, to praise your holy name and glory in your praise."

36Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, from eternity to eternity. All the people said, "Amen," and praised Yahweh.

37He left Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of the covenant of Yahweh to minister continually before the ark, as each day's duty required.

38Obed-edom and his brothers, sixty-eight; Obed-edom son of Jeduthun and Hosah as gatekeepers.

39and Zadok the priest and his brothers the priests before the tabernacle of Yahweh in the high place that was at Gibeon

40to offer burnt offerings to Yahweh on the burnt offering altar every morning and evening continually, and to carry out everything written in the law of Yahweh that he commanded Israel.

41with them Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of the chosen, who were called by name, to give thanks to Yahweh because his steadfast love is forever.

42with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for sounding aloud, and instruments for the songs of God, and the sons of Jeduthun at the gate.

43All the people went home, each man to his house, and David returned to bless his house.
