1 Chronicles 20

1At the turn of the year, when kings go forth, Joab led the mighty host and devastated the land of the sons of Ammon; he came and besieged Rabbah, while David remained in Jerusalem. Joab struck Rabbah and demolished it.

2David took their king's crown from his head and found it weighed a talent of gold, with a precious stone in it; it was set on David's head, and he carried out very much spoil from the city.

3David brought out the people who were there and cut them with saws, with iron harrows, and with axes. He did the same to all the cities of the sons of Ammon. David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.

4After this war broke out at Gezer against the Philistines; Sibbecai the Hushathite then struck down Sippai, one of the sons of the Rephaim, and they were subdued.

5War broke out again with the Philistines, and Elhanan son of Jair struck Lahmi, brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spear shaft resembled a weaver's beam.

6War broke out again at Gath, where a man of great stature whose fingers and toes numbered twenty-four—six on each hand and six on each foot—was also born to the giant.

7When he defied Israel, Jonathan son of Shimea, David's brother, killed him.

8These were born to Rapha in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.
