1 Chronicles 18

1After this David struck the Philistines, subdued them, and took Gath and its towns from the hand of the Philistines.

2He struck Moab, and the Moabites became David's servants, bearing tribute.

3David struck Hadadezer, king of Zobah as far as Hamath, as he went to establish his power by the river Euphrates.

4David captured a thousand chariots, seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand foot soldiers from him, and David hamstrung all the chariot horses but reserved a hundred chariots from them.

5When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck twenty-two thousand Arameans.

6David placed garrisons in Syrian Damascus, and the Syrians became servants to David, bearing tribute. Yahweh delivered David wherever he went.

7David took the gold shields that were on Hadadezer's servants and brought them to Jerusalem.

8From Tibhath and Chun, cities of Hadadezer, David took bronze in great abundance, with which Solomon made the bronze sea, the pillars, and the bronze vessels.

9Tou king of Hamath heard that David had struck down all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah.

10He sent Hadoram his son to King David to inquire of his welfare and bless him, because he had fought Hadadezer and struck him—for Hadadezer had been a man of wars with Tou—and with him all vessels of gold, silver, and bronze.

11King David also dedicated them to Yahweh, with the silver and the gold that he carried from all the nations—from Edom, from Moab, from the sons of Ammon, from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

12Abishai son of Zeruiah struck eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.

13He stationed garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became servants to David. Yahweh delivered David wherever he went.

14David reigned over all Israel and did justice and righteousness for all his people.

15Joab son of Zeruiah was over the army, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was recorder.

16Zadok son of Ahitub and Abimelech son of Abiathar were priests, and Shavsha was scribe.

17Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and the sons of David were the chief ones beside the king.
