1 Chronicles 28

1David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the princes of the divisions who served the king, the princes of the thousands, the princes of the hundreds, and the princes over all the substance and livestock of the king and his sons, with the eunuchs and the mighty men, even all the mighty men of valor, to Jerusalem.

2David the king stood to his feet and said, "Hear me, my brothers and my people! In my heart I planned to build a house of rest for the ark of Yahweh's covenant and for the footstool of our God's feet, and I prepared for the building."

3But God said to me, "You shall not build a house for my name because you are a man of battles and have shed blood."

4Yet Yahweh God of Israel chose me from all my father's house to be king over Israel forever, for he chose Judah as ruler, and in the house of Judah—my father's house—and among my father's sons he delighted in me to make me king over all Israel.

5From all my sons—for Yahweh has given me many sons—he chose Solomon my son to sit on the throne of the kingdom of Yahweh over Israel.

6He said to me, "Solomon your son—he will build my house and my courts, for I have chosen him as my son, and I will be his father."

7I will confirm his kingdom forever if he holds firm in doing my commandments and my judgments, as on this day.

8Now, in the sight of all Israel, Yahweh's assembly, and in the hearing of our God, keep and seek all the commandments of Yahweh your God, so that you may possess the good land and bequeath it to your children after you forever.

9You, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and willing soul, for Yahweh searches all hearts and discerns every design of the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.

10See now, for Yahweh has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary. Be strong, and do it.

11David gave Solomon his son the pattern of the portico and its houses, its treasuries, its upper chambers, its inner rooms, and the chamber of the mercy seat.

12and the plan of all that he had through the spirit for the courts of Yahweh's house, for all the surrounding chambers, for the treasuries of God's house, and for the treasuries of the dedicated things.

13for the divisions of the priests and Levites, for all the work required for service in Yahweh's house, and for all the vessels for service in Yahweh's house.

14the weight of gold for gold, for all vessels of every service; the weight of silver for all silver vessels, for all vessels of every service.

15the weight for the gold lampstands and their lamps of gold, by weight for each lampstand and its lamps; and for the silver lampstands, by weight for each lampstand and its lamps, according to the service of each lampstand.

16And gold by weight for the showbread tables, for every table; and silver for the silver tables.

17and the fleshhooks, the bowls, and the cups of pure gold; and for the golden bowls, gold by weight for each bowl; and for the silver bowls, silver by weight for each bowl.

18refined gold by weight for the incense altar, and gold for the pattern of the chariot, the cherubim that spread out and covered the ark of Yahweh's covenant.

19All this Yahweh instructed me in writing from his hand, all the works of the pattern.

20David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and courageous, and do it; do not fear or be dismayed, for Yahweh God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until you complete all the work for the service of the house of Yahweh.”

21See, the divisions of the priests and the Levites are for all the service of God's house; every willing skilled worker will be with you for all work and all service, as will the leaders and all the people for all your commands.
