Deuteronomy 33

1This is the blessing Moses the man of God blessed Israel's sons with before his death.

2He said, Yahweh came from Sinai and rose from Seir to them; he shone from Mount Paran and advanced amid myriads of holy ones, a fiery law from his right hand for them.

3Indeed, he cherishes the peoples; all his holy ones are in your hand. They sat down at your feet; each receives your words.

4Moses commanded us the law, an inheritance for the assembly of Jacob.

5He was king in Jeshurun when the chiefs of the people and Israel's tribes gathered together.

6Let Reuben live and not die, and let his men be few in number.

7And this for Judah: he said, "Hear, Yahweh, Judah's voice, and bring him to his people; his hands suffice for him, and be help against his adversaries."

8Of Levi he said, "Let your Thummim and your Urim belong to your faithful man, whom you tested at Massah, with whom you contended at the waters of Meribah."

9Who says to his father and mother, "I have not seen him"; he neither recognizes his brothers nor knows his sons, for they have kept your word and guard your covenant.

10They shall teach your judgments to Jacob and your law to Israel; they shall place incense before you and whole burnt offerings upon your altar.

11Yahweh, bless his strength, and accept the work of his hands; crush the loins of those rising against him and those hating him, that they not rise again.

12Concerning Benjamin he said: Yahweh's beloved dwells securely beside him; he shields him all day, and dwells between his shoulders.

13To Joseph he said, "His land is blessed by Yahweh with heaven's precious fruit, with dew, and with the deep that crouches beneath."

14and the precious fruits of the sun, and the precious things put forth by the moons.

15from the tops of the ancient mountains, and from the precious fruit of the everlasting hills

16and the precious bounty of the earth and its fullness, and the favor of the one dwelling in the bush—let it come on the head of Joseph, on the crown of the one set apart from his brothers.

17His firstborn bull is majestic, his horns like the horns of the wild ox; with them he gores all peoples together to the ends of the earth—they are the myriads of Ephraim and the thousands of Manasseh.

18And to Zebulun he said, "Rejoice, Zebulun, in your going out; and Issachar, in your tents."

19They will call nations to the mountain; there they will offer righteous sacrifices, for they will suck the abundance of the seas, the treasures hidden in the sand.

20Of Gad he said, "Blessed is the one who enlarges Gad; like a lion he dwells and tears the arm—yes, the crown of the head."

21He chose the chief portion for himself, for there the lawgiver's share was hidden. He came with the heads of the people; he performed Yahweh's justice and his judgments with Israel.

22He said of Dan, Dan is a lion's cub; he leaps from Bashan.

23To Naphtali he said, "Naphtali, satisfied with delight, full of Yahweh's blessing, possess the sea and the south."

24Of Asher he said, "Blessed above sons is Asher; let him find favor with his brothers, and let him dip his foot in oil."

25Your shoes will be iron and bronze, and your strength will match your days.

26No one is like the God of Jeshurun, who rides across the heavens for your aid, in his majesty through the skies.

27The God of old is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He drove the enemy from before you and said, "Destroy!"

28Israel dwells secure and alone, Jacob's spring upon a land of grain and new wine; moreover, his heavens drop dew.

29Blessed are you, Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by Yahweh, the shield of your help and the sword of your majesty! Your enemies shall cringe to you, and you shall trample their high places.
