Deuteronomy 11
You shall love Yahweh your God and keep his charge, his statutes, his ordinances, and his commandments all the days.
Know this day, for it is not your children who did not know and did not see the discipline of Yahweh your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his outstretched arm.
and his signs and his deeds, which he did within Egypt to Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and to all his land.
and what he did to Egypt's army, its horses, and its chariots, how he caused the waters of the Red Sea to flow over their faces as they pursued you, and how Yahweh destroyed them to this day.
and what he did for you in the wilderness until you reached this place
and what he did to Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab son of Reuben, how the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, their households, their tents, and all the substance that followed at their feet, among all Israel.
for your eyes have seen all the great work of Yahweh that he did.
Keep every commandment I am commanding you today, so that you may be strong and enter and possess the land you are crossing over there to possess it.
so that you lengthen your days on the land that Yahweh swore to your fathers to give them and their offspring, a land flowing with milk and honey.
For the land you are entering to possess is not like the land of Egypt, from which you came out, where you sow your seed and water it with your foot, like a garden of herbs.
But the land you are crossing over to possess is a land of hills and valleys that drinks water from the rain of the heavens.
A land that Yahweh your God seeks continually—the eyes of Yahweh your God always upon it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.
It will happen if you listen carefully to my commandments that I am commanding you today, to love Yahweh your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
I will give rain for your land in its time, early rain and late rain, and you will gather your grain, your wine, and your oil.
I will give grass in your fields for your livestock, and you will eat and be satisfied.
Guard yourselves carefully, lest your heart be enticed and you turn away to serve other gods and bow down to them.
Yahweh's anger will burn against you, and he will shut the heavens with no rain falling, the ground will not yield its produce, and you will quickly perish from the good land Yahweh is giving you.
Fix these words of mine in your heart and soul, bind them as a sign on your hand, and they will be frontlets between your eyes.
You shall teach them diligently to your children, speaking about them when you sit in your house, when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you rise.
Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
so that your days may increase and the days of your children, on the land that Yahweh swore to your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.
For if you carefully keep all this commandment that I am commanding you—to fulfill it, to love Yahweh your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cling to him,
Yahweh will dispossess all these nations before you, and you will possess nations greater and mightier than you.
Every place where the sole of your foot treads will be yours—from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the Euphrates River to the western sea; that will be your border.
No one will be able to stand before you, for Yahweh your God will put the fear of you and the dread of you over all the land that you tread, as he has spoken to you.
See, I place before you today a blessing and a curse.
the blessing, if you obey the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I am commanding you today;
and the curse, if you do not listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God, but turn aside from the way that I command you today to go after other gods you have not known.
It will happen that when Yahweh your God brings you into the land where you go to possess it, you will set the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.
Aren't they across the Jordan, past the road where the sun sets, in the land of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah, opposite Gilgal, beside the oaks of Moreh?
For you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess the land that Yahweh your God is giving you, and you will possess it and dwell in it.
Be careful to do all the statutes and the judgments that I am placing before you today.
