Revelation 21

1And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had gone away, and the sea no longer exists.

2And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3And I heard a mighty voice from the throne saying, "Look, God's dwelling is with people, and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them."

4He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more; neither mourning nor crying nor pain will exist any longer—the first things have passed away.

5And the one seated on the throne said, "See, I make all things new." He said, "Write, for these words are faithful and true."

6And he said to me, "They have become! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the thirsty from the spring of the water of life freely."

7The one who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God, and he will be my son.

8But the cowardly, faithless, detestable, murderers, fornicators, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars have their portion in the lake burning with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.

9And one of the seven angels who held the seven bowls full of the seven final plagues came and spoke with me, saying, "Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife."

10And he carried me in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God.

11having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone clear as crystal.

12having a great and high wall, having twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names inscribed on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel.

13three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.

14And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them the twelve names of the Lamb's twelve apostles.

15The one speaking with me had a golden reed as a measure to measure the city, its gates, and its wall.

16The city lies foursquare, its length equal to its width. He measured the city with the reed twelve thousand stadia. Its length, width, and height are equal.

17And he measured its wall at 144 cubits, by the measure of a man, that is, of an angel.

18And its wall's structure was jasper, and the city pure gold, like clear glass.

19The foundations of the city's wall were adorned with every precious stone; the first foundation jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald.

20the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.

21The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each one from a single pearl, and the city's street was pure gold, like transparent glass.

22And I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty is its temple, and the Lamb.

23And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for God's glory illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb.

24The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory into it.

25And its gates will not be shut by day, for no night will be there.

26And they will bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.

27And nothing unclean will enter it, nor anyone practicing abomination or falsehood, except those written in the Lamb's book of life.
