Lumin Translation

Revelation 9

The fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to the earth. The key to the pit of the abyss was given to him.

He opened the pit of the abyss, and smoke rose from the pit like smoke from a great furnace. The sun and the air were darkened by the smoke from the pit.

And locusts came out from the smoke onto the earth, and authority was given them, as the scorpions of the earth have authority.

And they were told not to harm the grass of the earth, neither any green thing nor any tree, except those people who do not have God's seal on their foreheads.

And permission was given them not to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like a scorpion's torment when it strikes a person.

In those days people will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death flees from them.

And the likenesses of the locusts resembled horses equipped for battle, and on their heads were crowns like gold, and their faces resembled human faces.

And they had hair like the hair of women, and their teeth were like lions'.

They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle.

And they have tails like scorpions, and stings; in their tails is their power to harm humans for five months.

They have a king over them, the angel of the abyss. His name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek he has the name Apollyon.

One woe has passed. Behold, two woes still come after these things.

And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a single voice from the horns of the golden altar before God.

saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, "Release the four angels bound at the great river Euphrates!"

And the four angels were released, those prepared for the hour and day and month and year, so that they might kill a third of humanity.

And the number of the cavalry armies was two myriads of myriads. I heard their number.

And so I saw the horses in the vision, along with those seated on them wearing fiery, hyacinth, and sulfurous breastplates; the heads of the horses resembled lions’ heads, and fire, smoke, and sulfur came from their mouths.

By these three plagues a third of the people were killed—the fire, the smoke, and the sulfur proceeding out of their mouths.

For the power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails; their tails indeed resemble serpents with heads, and by them they injure.

And the rest of the people, who were not killed by these plagues, neither repented of the works of their hands so as not to worship demons and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood—which can neither see nor hear nor walk.

And they did not repent of their murders, nor their sorceries, nor their sexual immorality, nor their thefts.
