Romans 8

1Therefore there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.

2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus freed you from the law of sin and death.

3For what was impossible for the law, in which it was weakened through the flesh, God, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh.

4so that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

5For those who are according to the flesh care for the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit care for the things of the Spirit.

6For the mindset of the flesh is death, but the mindset of the Spirit is life and peace.

7Because the mind of the flesh is at enmity with God—for it does not submit to the law of God, nor can it.

8But those in the flesh cannot please God.

9But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, that one is not his.

10But if Christ is in you, the body is indeed dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

11But if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also bring your mortal bodies to life through his Spirit living in you.

12So then, brothers, we are debtors not to the flesh to live according to the flesh.

13For if you live according to the flesh, you are about to die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

14For all who are led by God's Spirit, these are sons of God.

15For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fear again, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by which we cry, "Abba! Father!"

16The Spirit itself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God.

17If children, then heirs—indeed heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ—if we indeed suffer with him, so that we may also be glorified with him.

18For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing to the glory to be revealed in us.

19For the creation waits with earnest expectation for the revelation of the sons of God.

20For the creation was subjected to vanity, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it in hope.

21because the creation itself will also be freed from slavery to corruption into the glorious freedom of God's children.

22For we know that all creation groans together and labors in birth pains together until now.

23Not only, but we ourselves also, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan within ourselves—even we ourselves—as we eagerly await adoption, the redemption of our body.

24For we were saved in hope, but hope being seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he sees?

25But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly await it with patience.

26Likewise the Spirit also helps our weakness, for we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit itself intercedes for us with unutterable groanings.

27And he who searches the hearts knows what the Spirit's mind is, because he intercedes for the saints according to God.

28And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to purpose.

29For those he foreknew, he also predestined to be fashioned like the image of his Son, for him to be firstborn among many brothers.

30Those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

31What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?

32He who did not even spare his own Son, but gave him over for us all—how shall he not also with him graciously give us all things?

33Who will accuse God's elect? God is the one who justifies.

34Who condemns? Christ, who died—but rather, was raised—who is at God's right hand, who also intercedes for us.

35Who will separate us from Christ's love—affliction or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or peril or sword?

36Just as it has been written, "For your sake we are put to death all day long; we were counted as sheep for slaughter."

37But we overwhelmingly conquer in all these through the one who loved us.

38For I am assured that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor present things nor things to come, nor powers,

39Neither height nor depth nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
