Romans 6

1What then shall we say? Should we remain in sin, so that grace may abound?

2By no means! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?

3Or do you not know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

4So we were buried with him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

5For if we have become united in the likeness of his death, we will also be united in the resurrection.

6Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be rendered powerless—no longer for us to serve sin.

7For the one who has died is freed from sin.

8But if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.

9Knowing that Christ, raised from the dead, dies no more, death no longer lords over him.

10For the death he died to sin, he died once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.

11So you also count yourselves dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

12Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so as to obey its lusts.

13Neither keep presenting your members as weapons of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as living from the dead, and your members as weapons of righteousness to God.

14For sin will not rule over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

15What then? Should we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!

16Do you not know that to whomever you present yourselves as slaves for obedience, you are that one's slaves whom you obey—whether of sin leading to death or of obedience leading to righteousness?

17But thanks to God, because though you were slaves of sin, you obeyed from the heart that form of teaching to which you were delivered.

18But having been freed from sin, you became slaves to righteousness.

19I speak humanly because of the weakness of your flesh—for just as you presented your members as slaves to uncleanness and to lawlessness resulting in lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness resulting in holiness.

20For when you were slaves of sin, you were free with respect to righteousness.

21What fruit, then, did you have at that time in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those is death.

22But now, having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you have your fruit unto sanctification, and the end eternal life.

23For the wages of sin is death, but God's gift is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
