Romans 3

1What, then, is the Jew's advantage, or the profit of circumcision?

2Great in every respect, first of all because they were entrusted with the oracles of God.

3For what if some disbelieved? Will their unbelief not nullify God's faithfulness?

4By no means! Let God be true, but every person a liar, as it is written: "That you might be justified in your words and prevail when you are judged."

5But if our unrighteousness commends God's righteousness, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who brings wrath? I speak humanly.

6May it never arise! Otherwise, how will God condemn the world?

7But if God's truth abounded to his glory through my lie, why am I still judged as a sinner too?

8And why not—as we are maligned and as certain ones say we say—“Let us do evil things, so that good things may come”? Their judgment is righteous.

9What then? Are we better than they? By no means. For we have previously proved both Jews and Greeks that all are under sin.

10Just as it stands written, no one is righteous, not even one.

11No one understands; no one seeks God.

12They have all turned aside; together they have become worthless. No one does kindness—no, not even one.

13Their throat is an open tomb; with their tongues they practice deceit; the poison of asps lies under their lips.

14Whose mouth brims with cursing and bitterness.

15Their feet are swift to spill blood.

16Destruction and misery fill their ways.

17And they have not known the way of peace.

18No fear of God is before their eyes.

19Now we know that whatever the law declares, it addresses to those under the law, so that every mouth may be shut and all the world become liable before God.

20Because by works of law no flesh will be justified before him, for through law there is knowledge of sin.

21But now God's righteousness has been revealed apart from the law, attested by the law and the prophets.

22God's righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe—for there is no distinction.

23For all have sinned and fall short of God's glory.

24being justified as a free gift by his grace through the redemption in Christ Jesus

25whom God set forth as a propitiation through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness through the passing over of previously committed sins.

26in God's forbearance, for proof of his righteousness in this present season, so that he might be just and justify the one by faith in Jesus.

27Where then is boasting? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith.

28For we reckon a man is justified by faith without the law's deeds.

29Or is God God only of Jews? Is he not also of Gentiles? Yes, of Gentiles also.

30Since God is one, he will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith.

31Do we then abolish the law through faith? May it never be! Instead, we uphold the law.
