John 2

1And on the third day a wedding took place in Cana of Galilee, and Jesus' mother was there.

2Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.

3When the wine gave out, Jesus' mother said to him, "They have no wine."

4And Jesus said to her, "Woman, what's between me and you? My hour has not yet come."

5His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."

6Now there were six stone water jars set there for the purification of the Jews, each holding two or three measures.

7Jesus said to them, "Fill the water jars with water." And they filled them to the brim.

8And he said to them, "Now draw some and bring it to the master of the feast." So they brought it.

9When the master of the feast tasted the water that had become wine and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom.

10and says to him, “Every man first presents the good wine, and when they get drunk, the worse; you have kept the good wine until now.”

11Jesus did this, the beginning of the signs, in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

12After this he went down to Capernaum—he, his mother, his brothers, and his disciples—and they stayed there not many days.

13The Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

14And he found in the temple those selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting.

15Making a whip of cords, he drove all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen, poured out the money changers' coins, and overturned the tables.

16And to those selling the doves he said, "Take these things away from here; do not make my Father's house a marketplace."

17His disciples remembered that it stands written, "The zeal for your house will consume me."

18The Jews therefore answered and said to him, “What sign do you show us, since you do these things?”

19Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it."

20The Jews therefore said, "This temple was built in forty-six years, and you will raise it in three days?"

21But he was referring to the temple of his body.

22When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he was saying this, and they believed the scripture and the word that Jesus said.

23Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover during the feast, many believed in his name, seeing the signs he was doing.

24But Jesus himself did not entrust himself to them, because he knew everyone.

25And because he had no need for anyone to bear witness about man, he himself knew what was in man.
