Lumin Translation

John 16

I have spoken these things to you so that you will not stumble.

They will exclude you from the synagogues; indeed, the hour is coming when everyone who kills you will think he offers service to God.

They will do these things because they knew neither the Father nor me.

But I have spoken these things to you so that when their hour comes, you may remember them—that I said them to you. And I did not say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you.

But now I am going to the one who sent me, and none of you asks me, "Where are you going?"

But because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.

But I tell you the truth: it benefits you that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send him to you.

And when he comes, he will convict the world about sin, and about righteousness, and about judgment.

regarding sin, because they do not believe in me;

about righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you see me no more;

about judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

I still have many things to tell you, but you cannot bear them now.

But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will lead you into all truth, for he will not speak from himself, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will report to you the things coming.

He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.

All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he takes from what is mine and will declare it to you.

In a little while you no longer see me, and again in a little while you will see me.

Some of his disciples said to each other, "What is this he says to us: 'A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me'; because I am going away to the Father?"

So they said, "What does he mean by 'a little while'? We do not know what he is saying."

Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, and said to them, "Do you inquire among one another about this, that I said, 'A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me'?"

Truly, truly, I tell you that you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice. You will grieve, but your grief will become joy.

A woman has sorrow when she gives birth, because her hour has come, but when she bears the child, she no longer remembers the anguish because of the joy that a human has been born into the world.

So now you indeed have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one takes your joy from you.

And in that day you will ask me nothing. Amen, amen, I say to you: whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you.

Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be complete.

I have spoken these things to you in parables. The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in parables, but will tell you openly about the Father.

On that day you will ask in my name, and I am not telling you that I will ask the Father for you.

For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came out from God.

I went out from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father.

His disciples said to him, "See, now you speak frankly, and speak no proverb."

Now we know that you know everything and have no need for anyone to question you; by this we believe that you came out from God.

Jesus answered them, "Do you now believe?"

Look, the hour is coming, and it has now come, when you will be scattered, each to his own, and leave me alone. And I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

I have spoken these things to you so that you may have peace in me. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage—I have conquered the world.
