Matthew 28

1Late on the Sabbath, toward the first day of the week as dawn was breaking, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.

2And look, a great earthquake struck, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and approached, rolled the stone away, and sat upon it.

3His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow.

4From fear of him the guards quaked and became like dead men.

5But the angel replied to the women, "Have no fear, for I know that you seek Jesus who has been crucified."

6He is not here, for he was raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.

7And go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and look, he goes ahead of you into Galilee; there you will see him—look, I have told you.

8And they hurried from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to report to his disciples.

9And look, Jesus met them, saying, "Greetings!" They came forward, grasped his feet, and worshiped him.

10Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go, tell my brothers that they go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”

11As they went on their way, behold, some from the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened.

12And when they had gathered with the elders and taken counsel, they gave ample silver to the soldiers.

13saying, "Say that his disciples came by night and stole him while we were sleeping."

14And if this reaches the governor, we will persuade him and make you secure.

15So they took the silver and did as they were taught. And this report spread widely among the Jews until today.

16But the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

17And when they saw him, they worshiped him, but some doubted.

18And Jesus approached them and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth."

19Therefore, as you go, make all nations disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

20teaching them to keep everything I commanded you; and look, I am with you every day until the end of the age.
