Proverbs 28

1The wicked flee when no one pursues; the righteous are confident like a lion.

2By rebellion a land has many rulers, but by a discerning and knowledgeable man it is prolonged.

3A needy man who defrauds the poor is like a sweeping rain that leaves no bread.

4Those who abandon the law commend the wicked, but those who guard the law strive against them.

5Evildoers do not understand justice, but those who seek Yahweh understand all.

6Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity than a rich man perverse in his ways.

7A son who keeps the law is wise, but one who associates with gluttons shames his father.

8Whoever multiplies his riches by usury and increase gathers it for one who shows favor to the poor.

9Whoever turns his ear from hearing the law makes even his prayer an abomination.

10Whoever misleads the upright along an evil path falls into his own pit, but the blameless inherit good.

11The rich man is wise in his own eyes, but the poor with understanding searches him out.

12When the righteous triumph, great glory abounds; but when the wicked rise, a man hides himself.

13Whoever covers his transgressions will not prosper, but one who confesses and forsakes them finds mercy.

14Happy is the man who fears continually, but whoever hardens his heart falls into evil.

15A wicked ruler over needy people is like a roaring lion and a ravenous bear.

16A ruler lacking discernment also brings great oppression, but one who hates dishonest gain prolongs his days.

17A man who does violence to the blood of a person will flee to the pit; no one will sustain him.

18Whoever walks with integrity is saved, but one perverse in his ways falls suddenly.

19Whoever works his land will be satisfied with bread, but whoever pursues vain things will be satisfied with poverty.

20A faithful person has abundant blessings, but one hurrying to get rich will not be cleared.

21To show favoritism is not good; yet for a morsel of bread a man transgresses.

22A man hasty for riches has a malevolent eye and does not know that poverty will overtake him.

23One who rebukes another afterward finds more favor than one who flatters with the tongue.

24Whoever robs his father and his mother and says, “There is no sin,” is a fellow to a destroyer.

25One with a large appetite provokes strife, but one who relies on Yahweh will prosper.

26Whoever confides in his heart is a fool, but whoever walks in wisdom will escape.

27One who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but one who hides his eyes will have many curses.

28When the wicked arise, people hide themselves; but when they are destroyed, the righteous multiply.
