1Whoever receives correction after correction yet hardens his neck will suddenly be shattered, and there is no remedy.
2When the righteous abound, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rules, the people groan.
3A man who loves wisdom gladdens his father, but one who consorts with prostitutes squanders his riches.
4A king establishes the land by justice, but a man of bribes destroys it.
5A man who flatters his companion spreads a net for his steps.
6An evil man's sin is a snare, but the righteous sings for joy and rejoices.
7The righteous knows the plea of the poor; the wicked does not understand knowledge.
8Scornful men inflame a city, but wise men calm anger.
9When a wise man contends with a fool, the fool rages or laughs, and there is no quiet.
