Proverbs 29

1Whoever receives correction after correction yet hardens his neck will suddenly be shattered, and there is no remedy.

2When the righteous abound, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rules, the people groan.

3A man who loves wisdom gladdens his father, but one who consorts with prostitutes squanders his riches.

4A king establishes the land by justice, but a man of bribes destroys it.

5A man who flatters his companion spreads a net for his steps.

6An evil man's sin is a snare, but the righteous sings for joy and rejoices.

7The righteous knows the plea of the poor; the wicked does not understand knowledge.

8Scornful men inflame a city, but wise men calm anger.

9When a wise man contends with a fool, the fool rages or laughs, and there is no quiet.

10Bloodthirsty men hate the blameless, but the upright seek his life.

11A fool unleashes all his anger, but a wise man holds it back until afterward.

12If a ruler heeds lies, all his servants are wicked.

13The poor and the deceitful man meet; Yahweh enlightens both their eyes.

14The king who judges the poor in faithfulness, his throne stands firm forever.

15Rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself shames his mother.

16When the wicked grow numerous, transgression abounds; but the righteous see their ruin.

17Discipline your son, and he will give you rest; he will give delights to your soul.

18Without vision, people run unrestrained, but whoever guards the law is blessed.

19A servant is not corrected by words, for even if he understands, there is no answer.

20Do you see a man quick in his words? A fool has more hope than he.

21Bringing up one's servant from youth will make him a son at the end.

22An angry man provokes strife, and a furious man is full of transgression.

23A man's pride brings him low, but a humble spirit upholds honor.

24Whoever shares with a thief hates his own soul; he hears a curse but does not disclose it.

25The fear of others brings a snare, but whoever puts confidence in Yahweh is exalted.

26Many seek a ruler's favor, but a man's justice comes from Yahweh.

27An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, and an upright way is an abomination to the wicked.
